I lwk forgot I had to put smth here

I've always found the wording in the commandments odd, specifically the "Thou shall not have strange gods before me" one. People use it as a way to say there are no other gods, that God is the only one there is, but it says that you shouldn't put other gods BEFORE God, not that there's no other gods.

I decided to do some research of my own because, yk, I'm bored of sitting doing nothing, and I found out Christianity is based on many other religions (obviously this wasn't much of a surprise but as I read I found out more).

The one that stuck out most for me was the Canaanite pantheon which had El (which is where the suffix -el comes because it means God, names like Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, etc. always mean something related to God thanks to this suffix), Asherah (The mother goddess and El's consort), Baal (God of fertility who was then as the story changed made to be a Chaos god and even a demon which is where Beelzebub's name comes from partially), and the one that matters most, Yahweh (which is the God the Christian, Jewish and Catholic religions follow but under the name of God for Christian and Catholic religions). Yahweh was a lesser god in the canaanite pantheon and was a warrior god.

The Bible's rules contradict themselves often, most sounding very understandable and acceptable but their punishments being harsh, so a theory I had was that back when the Canaanite pantheon was assimilated into the newer religions, the rules implemented came from El and had much softer punishments as El was known to be an understanding god, however once Yahweh took over the rules changed to fit his more ruthless ideals but they couldn't change fully given the followers already had the ones they wouldn't change regardless.

Well, there's two lines that stuck with me (one I had to research a ton to get and the other which I've heard a lot lately), these being:

• As commander of the army of the Lord, I have come.

- This is the first line St. Michael spoke in the Bible iirc

• God's command was clear. Fall.

- This one is just very cool and I like it, and as we can tell it was told to Lucifer the day he fell (lol he thought he could go against God and couldn't even get past Michael)

NOW WHERE I WAS GOING WITH THIS

These lines made me think of something, a WHB AU where Michael didn't get his memories with every little mistake he caused and realised just how corrupt Heaven was thanks to the other Seraphim and Lucifer (obviously he can't go against God, he's an idiot but not that much of an idiot)

And before you come at me saying "Oh this au strips him from something important in his story!"

I've already written around 7k words of pure fanfiction of this and am writing more in my document so silence you
