Michelle had a gift. Her first memory of using it was in kindergarten, when her best friend Betty was pushed down at recess and started to cry. Michelle laid a hand on her friend’s arm and silently willed her to be happy, to forget about the bullies and the bruises, and to get back up and play again. She was delighted to see a smile dance across Betty’s face and cheered when her friend jumped up and began to play with her.

Dreaming Mary is another game I’d recommend. It starts of as a happy, upbeat game but soon gets a creepy atmospheric vibe. Here’s the story:

Mary is a girl who loves to dream. In fact, she loves to dream so much she can spend an entire day dreaming. One day, when she falls asleep, she finds herself in a nostalgic place very different from her other dreams. Everyone there knows her and treats her like an old friend, and they invite her to play with them or help them. When she finishes all of their tasks, she is invited deeper into the dream.  Will you lead her to fall into her dreams? Or will you bring her back to the waking world?

Then realize that Edna anticipated practically every threat that the Incredibles would run into from Syndrome and built help into their suits. The only logical conclusion is that he contacted her–possibly scores of times. Syndrome was a stalkery fanboy before he turned supervillain. And Edna is THE suit maker for supers, as well as Mr. Incredible. Of course Syndrome would go to her. Edna is the best, and Syndrome would want the best designer for his costume.

Think about all that. Think about the woman who was so horrified and grief-stricken by Stratogate’s death being asked by a supervillain–one who was a genuine threat to supers she cared about–to design his costume.

And then realize that, despite her horror and guilt and rage at the gruesome deaths of Stratogate and other supers, despite her vehement conviction that such deaths should never happen again…
