Avatar Actor AU Headcanons
I just watched the Aang movie in theaters, and there’s been this multi-fandom crossover actor au that’s been brewing in my head since forever, and I feel like this is right time to share some 😂
Aang and Katara co-created the original concept of Avatar. They were college classmates who were forced to pair up for a thesis film. The prof made it challenging by pairing people that whose personalities were different. Aang is a creative genius, but lacks the discipline to finish projects at a consistent timeline. He always submitted work that was good, but he does theme the last minute. Katara submits work that’s been throughly polished, but lacked artistically somewhat. Initially Aang disliked how often they met to work on their thesis, but they eventually grew to like each other
This AU has a device that allows people to change their appearance based on what’s required of the script. The first generation of this cosmetic device was used heavily by Ash in Pokemon. Team Avatar used a second generation of this device in order to save costs on actors. In fact everyone was in their early 20s when the first three seasons aired. By the time the movie came out they were acting their actual age
Katara is an actual doctor in this AU. Full-fledged MD. She started school during production, and is the second actor who pursued medicine along side her film career. The second one was her classmate Sakura Haruno. They best friends to this day
Aang had a rivalry with three guys during college. They were the top of their classes usually, but excelled in different things. Aang’s strong point was character writing. The other person was emotional depth. The third one was gifted in visual storytelling. The fourth one specialized in spectacle. After graduating each person became a force in the industry. Aang created Avatar. Edward created Fullmetal Alchemist. The third guy used his college nickname as part of his work Samurai Jack. Simon created Gurren Lagann
This rivalry seeped through their whole careers. Aang would create Studio Mir, and Simon would create Studio Trigger. Aang’s protege, Korra, would compete for best actor against Ed’s protege Eren. She won that year. Jack decided to retire but ironically his daughter Asami would end up starring in the Legend of Korra, and his younger daughter Ryuko would be the protagonist in Kill la Kill
Zuko originally auditioned for two shows before landing his iconic role. He first auditioned for Bleach to be the lead star, but the writers felt he was too angsty, and ended up choosing Ichigo for the lead role. Second show was called American Dragon, but they felt he was too hot but not charismatic enough for the lead role. They went with Jake Long instead
Avatar isn’t Toph’s first acting gig. She actually played Hanabi Hyuga until she got the role in Avatar. She’s actually Hinata’s younger sister, but dyes her hair to make it less obvious (the eyes are a dead giveaway)
Sokka is actually Katara real older brother. In fact Zuko and Azula are actual siblings. Aang and Ty Lee are also cousins
Sokka likes inserting comedic characters that are similar to him in other works. He’s the main scriptwriter for Voltron
Suki is Ainu and is one of only two actresses of Ainu descent at the time. The other one is Dawn
Toph opened a gym specializing in training actresses to do their own stunts. She’s in charge of the LA branch while Sakura runs the Tokyo branch. Some alumni include Korra, Yang, Vi, Maki, Yor, and all three Huntrix members
