Showcasing art from some of my favourite artists, and those that have attracted my attention, in the field of visual arts, including vintage; pulp; pop culture; books and comics; concert posters; fantastical and imaginative realism; classical; contemporary; new contemporary; pop surrealism; conceptual and illustration.

The Voices of Saint Joan of Arc, according to her trial transcript:

"There is no day that I do not hear the voice. And indeed I need it. I have never asked it for any other reward than, in the end, the salvation of my soul." [...] "Whatever I have done that was good, I have done at the bidding of my voices."

Above are some of my favorite art pieces that depict Joan of Arc as she listens to the Voices supposedly sent by God to guide her. Joan of Arc, a beloved saint to many Christians, is the patron of France, soldiers, and female prisoners in the Catholic Church; however, she is often also claimed by feminists and queer Christians as a patron of gender liberation, gender nonconformity, same-gendered female relationships, and even transgender joy. I propose that, alongside the love and protection of women and queer people, we give her another patronage--the patron of the mentally ill, especially those who experience psychosis and 'madness'.

We have no way of knowing 100% if the Voices that instructed Joan throughout her time in the army and while on trial were truly divine or if they were a symptom of schizophrenia or a similar psychotic disorder. But just because one of two options may be true doesn't mean the other isn't. Joan can have both experienced divinely created voices and be hallucinating. God is present in everything-- why not both?

sasori who hasn’t revealed himself outside of his puppet in years, let alone use his own body to fight

sasori who is a long distance fighter and never gets up close to his opponent

sasori who is pushed to his limit and finally uses his own hand to attempt to end sakura’s life by stabbing his sword into her. and then they stay there for a while, pushing and pulling while looking into each others eyes. sakura with passion yet exhaustion, and sasori in awe with an almost soft yet deeply intense expression in his wide eyed gaze.

sasori who hasn’t had someone touch him in probably over a decade is hit so hard by sakura that it leaves cracks on his face. he cannot physically feel the pain but he can feel the impact as his head flips to the side. no one has gotten that up and personal to him in a very long time.

and his changed expression when he uses his own body shows he is capable of feeling emotion, as we also see at the end with it being implied that the sight mother and father puppets stopped him from dodging their attacks with their swords which would end his life.
