"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.
Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.
If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.
And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.
So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:
I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."
This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.
But particularly women, and especially black women.
Chinese hanfu & instruments.
ai will literally straight up say "I can make mistakes :)" and be accepted by millions of companies worldwide. meanwhile you'll either get fired or get your resume thrown into a trash can if you, as a human being, make one slight mistake or are not always performing perfectly

"If an apartment can reject tenants for owning pets they should also reject tenants from having kids because kids are more destructive than dogs or cats"
WTF NO. Children are humans, people, with rights. On no planet should living breathing children be treated the same as dogs, or should dogs or cats be elavated to be entitled to be allowed everywhere. The hell is wrong with you??
I was still a keeper when Harambe died and omg the people online insisting they should have risked the kid/who cares about the kid/animals are better than people.
No. Full stop.
It’s stuff like this that makes you realize that for a surprising number of people, their “love” of animals is more of a cover for how much they just hate certain groups of people. In this case. Literal. Children. The most vulnerable members of any human society.
And it’s really not the flex that these people think it is either.
This post is correct but I would like to go back up to the top and say that landlords also should not be able to reject you for having a pet. Animals should not be valued above humans but should always be valued above profit producing property. Damn near everything should be valued above profit.
my living situation is a house I rent a room in. I have housemates and agressive/disruptive pets have been a reason that people have been denied/kicked out. And this is technically a pet friendly house. There are good reasons besides "greedy landlords hate joy". Pets, especially dogs, can be a serious legal liability if the owners decide to be careless (and dare I say most pet owners are careless to some level).
Also yes I get that pets are family members but the trauma induced by being a homeless child vs being a homeless animal is not comparable. As someone who has taken in abandoned animals with separation anxiety, the affects on humans are way more severe, and way longer lasting.
... That sounds more like an aggressive pet problem than a 'landlords shouldn't be able to stop people from having a pet' problem...? Why do your aggressive pet housemates get to dictate what pet ownership in a rented home is like?
My dog never bit a damned person, why is she being lumped in with some shitty owners and their shitty dogs? IDGI. We shouldn't be basing things off of some pets being aggressive of not. Those pets are a problem and shouldn't be tolerated. They're not the rule and the reason why landlords should be able to discriminate because you, personally, have had to suffer their existence.
It was almost impossible to find a place to rent with my dog and entirely unfair. Like ... are you aware of how many animals get dumped at shelters because the owners can't find a place to rent with them because of all this? o_o Jesus. I ain't even talking about fees. I'm talking about ability.
POV: you tried to flirt with Olruggio
I like to imagine hoofed fingers having rubbery fingertip-like pads
(Update: I think adding in a bit of value and color variation helps sell the appeal)
Kinda camelid-like!
I expected my cpap machine to make a dramatic difference right away but after waking up from my first night on the machine I think the experience can be described as I woke up and thought “well I don’t think I feel dramatically different but it also definitely feels like something in there has been unclogged”
It’s like uh like when you finally remember to clean the hair out of the shower drain after a while. But with my general vibe.
According to my app which no is not called cpapp unfortunately I only stopped breathing 1.7 times per hour. Which might sound weird but during my sleep apnea test I stopped breathing 23.5 times per hour so as you can imagine breathing is generally better than not breathing
I’m not talking about my health just to overshare btw. I think there’s probably other young people out there with sleep apnea who might need to hear someone in their 20s discussing this.
Don’t feel ashamed to get tested if you’re tired all the time or someone has told you that you gasp for air in your sleep. Get your shower drain unclogged.
I'm 35 and I got tested for sleep apnea in the fall and I was having OVER 50 EVENTS PER HOUR.
Got my cpap and holy shit the difference. I am actually rested when I go to bed at a reasonable time. I no longer need daily 2-4 hour naps just to function.
And I also suspect that it might be helping me not get as many colds, because that nightly airflow clears things out.
I'm really glad I have my cpap now and everything is better, but also wish I had got tested earlier, because maybe if I'd caught this sooner I wouldn't have developed some of the other health issues I deal with. But I thought I was so tired all the time because I'm a parent and autistic.
So yeah, even if you think you know why you're always tired, get tested just in case.
Today in australia they started senate hearings on the bill the government hopes will make enough disabled people die or disappear to make us all less irritatingly expensive for them. We had two weeks to submit feedback on over 400 pages of complicated legal terms. They don't care what we have to say and they don’t care that this will kill people and disenfranchise disabled people across the country.
There are 760,000 Australians on the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the system that - if they feel like it and your personalised plan says you get to have it - provides funding for everything from personal hygiene care to support workers to therapies to assistive technology. It's already very hard for disabled people to get on the NDIS, regardless of your disability. It's near impossible to access most support and equipment without being on the NDIS. And the government has announced that they want that number to drop to 600,000 in four years. 160,000 of us cut off the Scheme - and countless more denied access. This will cause deaths. People will die and people will suffer because there is no safety net. The NDIS is the only option for most of us. Even private health insurance doesn't cover most of these things. Nobody will swoop in to save us.
The bill wants to give the (non disabled!) NDIS minister basically unlimited power to cut our funding. They're already planning what they'd do with that power. What rights they'll strip from us. What dignity and freedom they'll remove to make their budget look better.
The bill wants to force people to try every treatment out there before they're allowed to be on the NDIS. Including if the treatment is literally impossible to access. There’s a lot of us living in regional areas or out bush who can't just pop to the capital cities for specialists. This will especially hurt disabled First Nations people in regional and remote communities, who already experience limited access to healthcare. Oh, and it includes chemical restraint, too. The government has directly refused to exclude chemical restraint from the required process, calling it "trialling medication".
If you're australian and worried, the ABC did a good breakdown of the proposed changes.
I know australia stuff doesn't really pop up on the radar on this site, but I want everyone to know what's going on. What we're fighting for here. Your australian disabled friends might be NDIS participants fearing for their life, rights, and freedom. They might not be a participant and afraid these changes mean they never will have access. We deserve better. The government built a system with no backup plan, and now they want hundreds of thousands of disabled people to pay the price for their bad planning.
Sorry we're too expensive to have rights, I guess.
If you don't already know how to submit a comment, I believe this site has information. But if anyone has better information, feel free to add on to help others speak up!

I refuse to let this be lost in the tags
it's annoying how hormones can affect your mental state, because right before I start my period, I have a day or two of INTENSE depression. like at certain points I'm almost vaguely suicidal. and then I wake up the next day bleeding out, and I'm like ohhhhhhhhhhhh! ohhh it was that! I'm actually happy and fine!
I had to explain that to a guy who was over once, because we had a mild argument about who would brush their teeth first, and I start SOBBING over it, and then (while still crying) had to explain "unfortunately, this is just a hormone thing, you're good man."
... I should feel lucky. The ~week before my period, I'm horny, make lots of art, and am also mega charismatic ... but temperamental.
Nowhere to go but up. May your tools serve you well.
Extinction. Digital.
Featuring animals killed off by humanity. Quagga, Thylacine, Asiatic cheetah, Passenger pigeon, Carolina parakeet and Caspian tiger. When coming up with a list of animals to include I ended up with over twenty of them, and had to pare it down considerably. I'll likely revisit this in future versions to include more. Especially more of the birds.
i just saw someone say "trans women are the Black people of the trans community" and it's like, i get what you're trying to do there, but here's the thing: no they're not. black people are the Black people of the trans community. you KNOW that there are Black trans people right? please tell me that you know that
a lot of my fellow white queers have not internalized the fact that being gender marginalized doesn't stop making us white. if you're white you're not the Black people of Any community because there will always be people of color in your community
