Absolutely DYING for a good book to read. I can't wait for school to be out for summer so i can read for fun again!!!!
Here's what im reading for fun currently.
1.) Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut Lets be honest, whenever I pick up a Vonnegut book I get instantly enthralled by it; it truly is sickening. Unfortunately this one is leaving an odd taste in my mouth but I'm giving it time to show its neck before i decide i dont wanna bite
2.) She's Always Hungry by Eliza Clark I loooooveeee everything Eliza Clark has ever written. I was a bit disappointed that the story the book is named after was very confusing but I am definetly going back to read it in particular because i was just not paying attention. I can't believe I'm running out of her stories to read.
Here is what I'm reading for school.
1.) Macbeth by William Shakespeare Oh when will Shakespeare unhand me? Seriously who's idea was it for me to take a Shakespeare class two semesters in a row??? (It was mine, I thought I'd like it.) I hate that I love Macbeth because I genuinely can't give it the attention it deserves when someone is breathing down my neck to have me finish it!!!
2.) Wild by Cheryl Strayed I just started this one for my Creative Non-Fiction class. I'm only required to read the first part of it and I am almost done. Unfortunately my teacher was right and I will be reading the rest of the book because Strayed is a good writer and I'm intrigued by the story. I also cannot give this the attention it deserves but it makes it easy (unlike Macbeth).
3.) Native Son by Richard Wright Reading this for a History of American Literature class, which is my favorite and least favorite class at the moment. My teacher is sooooo happy to give us broad questions to answer about this book which is making this beautiful artwork harder to read!!!! I'm going into it soon with an open mind who wants to read, not just write a paper.
So rn I'm stressed out and reading not a whole ton unfortunately, in and out of school....

Reading How to Make Friends With the Dark by Kathleen Glasgow has me crying pretty much every page of every chapter.
Glasgow has a way to explaining and portraying pain in a beautiful and relatable manner. Everything is relevant and helpful in understanding where Tiger is at. Iām also so shocked at how amazing the time line is written. You can gradually see the changes in Tiger and the growth of her character and her grief. Iāve gotten so far in the book without even realizing because the story wraps you into the meaning and the life Tiger lives and the emotions she feels without making it seem like just words on a page or a timeline written out.
Glasgow is one of the best authors Iāve read and she continues to touch on and explain hard topics so gently while also providing ALL information, not biting her tongue at all.
I urge everyone to read this book and all the others she has independently written.
Reading heated rivalry (wow this book is quite something! Mom donāt read it!!) and feeling the pressure to just watch the show but I know I wonāt read the book if I watch the show first because the same thing happened with Love Simon and the Hunger Gamesā¦
My fable reading wrapped!! Most controversial read was Wicked btw, not sure why it didnāt show up.
I need to speak on the book "You feel it just below the ribs" by Jeffrey Cranor andĀ Janina Matthewson. Absolutely amazing book. I have been thinking about it since I finished it a while ago. It definitely made me think about relationships and the psychological impact on them or the lack of them. I would definitely recommend this book if you are into an alternate reality type thing. They wrote the fictional memoir perfectly, even if the "editors" footnotes started pissing me off. I think that was the point.

Notes on an execution: Odd at some points, I felt like it tugged on your heart strings and made you think about why we have the death sentence
And they were roommates: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is the best book with a trans lead character Iāve probably ever read. He was trans but it wasnāt explicitly talked about very much through the book, it was more like an implied undertone which is so relatable. Jasper was a fun character who seemed like he fit our assumptions but is actually a complex person!! Love this book, will be striving to read something like it forever probably.

I finished āBoy Partsā by Eliza Clark and I am kinda disappointed. Why canāt I get a good ending??? Like every book Iāve read lately (other than the hunger games) has had an awful ending. I loved the idea of the book but I wish the ending was played out differently. She could have gotten away with more.
In other news, I finished the first hunger games and absolutely loved it. I cant recall ever actually finishing it when I read it as a teen but I must have. Looking forward to continuing the series bc I wanna read all of it before I read the newest book.

Iām sorry Boy Parts by Eliza Clark just picked the fuck up??? Sorry for the French or whatever.
I had started to get a lil confused about why everyone was super into this book but I was enjoying the writing and the story, it just didnāt seem like something that was particularly for me. But WOAH was I wrong.
Around half way through, maybe a lil after, I was reading in bed home ALL ALONE at around 1 A.M. .awful idea but at the time the book seemed relatively chill and sorta depressing while still being a good story (kinda what I look for in my nighttime book). But the chapter titled āDennisā absolutely left me so uncomfortable. I wasnāt scared, like someone was gonna break in, and I felt safe. It just felt odd. I was creeped out and began wondering āwhat the hellā.
It hit different since up until then Irina was just a mentally ill person who made funky art. But it picked up with almost no warning. If it werenāt for the steep incline it would be just fine. Absolutely fantastic.
