i’ve just finished it, and like what do you even mean. it ticks all the boxes-

main character is -

fucking unhinged ✅

not very likeable ✅

makes bad decisions ✅

impressively delusional ✅

plot structure that 180s everytime you think that you’re catching on ✅

‘what the fuck have i just read’ feeling that you get after finishing an r.f kuang book ✅

sharp criticism of systematic flaws and corruption ✅

9.5/10, only one note - i was robbed of an epilogue, rebecca I WANT AN EPILOGUE

the way people talk about rf kuang and her books is starting to be racist. obv no one is above criticism, but holy shit sometimes the 'criticism' is just not valid because it is so fucking stupid. i've never seen a single white author whose work is torn apart like this. rebecca, i'm buying you a gun.
