someone said something to me about how "transandrobros" are recreating early 2010s antifeminism and anti SJW rhetoric which is very strange to me. how I remember that era is that the anti SJW types would say trans people are mentally ill and most transition for either attention, some kind of social privilege or another external gain. correct me if I'm wrong but thats not a take I've seen many transandrobros have.
idk about you but in mid 2010s I remember "transgender person with coloured hair being insufferable and aggressive" as THE sjw stereotype. I remember trans people always being the butt of the joke. it was "lol I'm triggering the sjws by saying there are only two genders" and "I identify as an attack helicopter" type shit.
I dont remember the anti feminist anti sjw sentiment being something like "non cishet men are the exact same as cishet men and we should treat them like brothers! lets team up against feminists, trans men! also nb people are valid! :D"
a lot of the common transphobic stereotypes either made their start or got a major boost in this era. its just silly to say that anything the transandrobros are saying is remotely similar to that when in reality they were a target of it just as any trans person was.
I just really struggle to see what people mean by this. I mean I guess the concept of "trans men face discrimination and that is bad" sounds sorta kinda like an MRA talking point if you squint and tilt your head at just the right angle. maybe. hmm.
