My piece for the Fire Emblem Compendium. Kurth is a very important character to me, so I was thrilled to get the chance to draw him. Thanks so much to the event runner for managing such a big project. It’s been awesome to see the art being produced.

Ryoma: Could I, perhaps, have been your enemy? Or even worse, a nobody? A stranger? Saizo: My lord...these are all pedantic hypotheticals. The truth of the matter is that we are both here now, and that my loyalty is real. And at this moment, standing on this spot, there is no one else I would ever die for. The rationality behind my heart doesn’t drive me in the slightest.  Ryoma: Hahaha! Well spoken, Saizo. Surprisingly, yes... You are a man driven by your heart. Saizo: ...Hmph. Most would believe ninja to lack them. Ryoma: Maybe so, but I’ve known you since childhood. I know you have one.

Thanks to the people who ran Rarepair Week for the prompts, and thanks to @unassumingvenusaur for working so hard on hacks. The S support quoted above left a big impression on me, so this is my little tribute to it.

Ryoma: ...Is there something you believe you can't discuss with me, Saizo? Saizo: Not quite. You said before that you don't think I'm paid properly. But from my perspective, I'm very well compensated. Ryoma: Really? It's not easy to make ends meet on a military salary... Saizo: I'm not talking about the financial end of things. Ryoma: But what else could you be referring to? Saizo: My heart.
