another thing I caught from the fight between Carol and Yon-Rogg that I’m concerned may slip through the cracks of some analyses is how his insistence Carol fight without her powers is not a new or rare thing in the real world. guys constantly want women to lessen themselves for male consumption, to play down their strength or intelligence, especially in arguments. guys will say “I bet you can’t make your argument without (xyz)” but why should I have to? if it’s a valid argument, I don’t need to make my case without it. and this is just one example of men trying to challenge us and make us “prove ourselves” by taking away things that make up who we are.
