watched obsession. Pretty good, gives me the heebie jeebies.
The actress for Nikki did amazing, soooo good. crazy.
I feel so bad for nikki, it reminds me a little of the ending of mouthwashing. how like.. nikki did ask him to kill HER not himself, and then he takes "responsibility" by killing himself, leaving her with her friends dead, possible murder charges, and bodily fucked up, in a rancid mess, oh and with tons of traumatic memories of getting basicly raped by bear, doing said murder, etc.
cos like he had those prescription sleeping pills, right when she asked for him to kill her, he could have let her fall asleep peacefully. people may have believed him that she killed herself. or he kill himself at that point and nobody else had to die.
the movie is really good at setting up a scenario where you are basicly out of good options.
I am genuinly unsure if it was a kindness for him to kill himself or not.
and even more disturbing is that he wasn't even going to go through with it if possessed!nikki hadn't wished for him to fall in love with her at the last moment. He couldn't do right by her even once.
I feel sad for him too. sure this isn't what he wanted. but he was willfully going along with it as long as it meant he got to "keep" some semblance of her. Sure she didnt' act like herself anymore, everyone noticed, and she made him eat his dead cat. Like he knew at that point that the only reason this was a thing was because of the wish.
Idk if it was "unfair" of the wish to insist that he kill himself or find someone else to wish to offset it, in a sense he killed her the moment his wish came true. worse that that, someone else possessed her on his behalf.
that sex(rape)scene felt so awful.
its very interesting that like, the last straw was really when she killed someone else. it had to go that far. thats the only time that real life consequences may have affected him too because of law. Her harming herself multiple times, threatening to kill herself, I know he was basicly being coerced by her at the end as well with that, but like, he was willing to play ball.. wayyyy to long.
movie is about entitled wishes, about asking the question, what would happen with this wish? would the average lonely guy, take advantage of a girl in this position? even though hes "nice"?
