#wild to me because I keep seeing people like “oh I should be nice and friendly to someone who's actively trying to kill me then?”#like no there is in fact a middle ground between. checking my notes.#being mean to struggling people. and being personally responsible for struggling people to your own detriment#there are in fact a whole spectrum of middle grounds#“ignoring someone” is in fact an option#but the same people who are like “what do you want me to be personally responsible for a man's transformation?”#will then use bullying tactics and claim the shame will help the men in a transformation?#it sounds like you're still using energy to get involved but you just get mad when people ask you to do it in ways that are effective praxis#you can't have it both ways. either get involved in an effective and humane way or. like. don't get involved LOL!

people who are sinking a lot of time, effort, and ego into Being Mean To People For Good Reasons get incredibly fucking mad when you tell them that being Nice To People For The Same Reasons accomplishes their stated goals way more effectively.

I don't know who my intended audience is here, so whoever needs to hear this, I am begging you to learn to participate in conversations that are about things you aren't interested in.

If you feel like this is calling you out, and you're wondering how else to react instead, may I suggest focusing not on this topic that you're not interested in (because faking interest is something a lot of people can catch up on) but on the person's interest in and of itself.

Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.

Your skill level is unquestionable but listen.

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.

It's happening again, so just to remind everyone:

They are not supposed to automatically redirect you without you clicking them, they are not supposed to cause a pop-up, they are not supposed to freeze your screen.

Resume has my qualifications. Cover letter states my intentions and goals within the job. Interview is for any other information relative to the job and shows my professionalism.

The level of entitlement employers feel over our private info is insane. I remember my own employer sitting across me on his laptop, bitching endlessly over the fact the candidate whose Facebook profile he wanted to check had it set strictly to friends-only. He was serously annoyed her posts and photos and whatnot were not available for him, a total stranger, to see.

I had a job interview where they insisted you hand over your social media links so they could look through your stuff to ensure you did not “reflect poorly on the brand”. I told them that I didn’t have any, and technically, if you use my legal name you will get three women. None of them are me (one is twice my age and runs an antique store in FL, one is 5yrs younger than me but has a PhD in something unrelated to anything like what I studied, the third lives in London and posts a lot about pubs), and the interviewer looked up my name. He showed me these three accounts, asked me which was mine. I told him the truth. None of them were me.
