the one thing that is HAUNTING my soul rn is the way, after bullseye’s body falls from the roof, karen starts basically saying “i can’t i can’t, foggy i can’t” because she thinks it’s MATT. she thinks matt fell from the roof and she’s praying that she didn’t just lose both her boys (cause they’re her boys) in one night cause she knows she won’t be able to handle that. i had to pause and take a walk and i wasn’t even 20 minutes in.

That Captain America Healing Factor is all well and good until someone on the team has to pin Steve down and re-break his arm because they didn’t splint it in time and it healed wrong. Until they have to dig a knife into his face and pull out glass fragments that his skin healed over in five minutes flat. Until he has to have surgery wide awake because no anaesthetic works and the only other option is a leather belt between his teeth and useless platitudes like its going to be okay Steve, I promise, it’ll be over soon.

back on my Marvel shit, and I was watching tfatws and the scene where Sam asks Bucky why he used his right hand and not his arm had me thinking. disclaimer: fully aware that he says he “forgets it’s there” but this is just my brain coming up with ideas and shit.

so! thought process i had was this: everyone knows that amputees get phantom or chronic pain on the limb that was amputated. now, once again, fully aware this wasn’t what happened, but imagine Bucky having a bad day. his shoulder is throbbing and he can’t even touch it without making things feel worse and even then, the thought of touching his shoulder puts memories to the front of his mind he doesn’t wanna remember. so he’s standing there, dreading using his left arm because it hurts so fucking much. imagine Sam or Steve walking in and seeing him trying to find something using only his right hand cause that means he’s the one in control and, as a plus, it hurts a lot less.

didn’t mean to rant that long, but what I’m saying is imagine Bucky dealing with phantom and chronic pain to the point where he forgets his arm because he tries not to use it.
