Starting over isn't so bad...
-Said no one ever!!! I hate starting over. I hate that I need to start over. Ranting over, lamenting the need to start again doesn't actually get me any results, does it? I mean, good intentions should burn a few calories, right?? No?? Ok then!! Be that way! Well, it's a new year, what better time to make new (old) goals and try to really stick to em? Giving it the old college try, forgetting that it's not the 1st time or the 20th time, only focusing on being grateful that it's not too late. Here's to everyone returning to the former goals with gusto! We actually can do this, believe it or not!!!

It's all relative
I did a long run this morning...long being relative & 5 miles. I haven't run that distance since the Hogeye Relay back in early April. While it's still a 'short' distance, I thank god for progress! Week 2 training in the books!
Grinding on...
So it's week 2 (of 19) of Soaring Wings training. Been a pretty good week back...good being that I've gotten the miles in. This morning tho, wasn't a morning I wanted to run. It was 79 at 5am and I was sleepy lol. BUT I pressed and had a decent run. I really should do some strength training...I just suck at it and feel like a fish out of water. But, that's on my agenda...and soon. Finishing week 2 strong and getting better with each run! It's lookin like a comeback!!!

Goodness...
I saw this floating around a while ago and when it came back around I had to snatch it up. This is my life right abt now as I try to get this eating under control lol. Thing is, I like food. Like really like food...and not the healthy green kind but the greasy, fast kind. It's like breaking up with an old girlfriend, she's keeps callin and I try not to answer. Somebody tell this chick (food) that I'm not interested before I cave in lol
No Shortcuts!
I've never thought of myself as a runner. I've run a few 5k's, 2 half marathons but I've never really thought of myself as a runner. I was a fat guy who realized I burned more calories running than say using the elliptical. After an extended break from running for no real reason, I'm back...training for yet another half marathon. I've lost a lot of the endurance that I took for granted at the height of my other training plans... During this mornings 3.5 mile run, I felt better and stronger than I have in a while and I realized that it's only because I've been running somewhat consistently. And it hit mr that there are NO shortcuts. You get better by running more. You get stronger by running more. You get faster by running more...no accidents, no miracles, sheer work! Message received...
I was home today so I roasted a chicken for dinner. Even the kids enjoyed... No running today, but spent a spell in the AMT machine. But a 3 mile run is in my immediate future (like at 5am). Feeling good being back!

3 miles were run this morning (let's put off discussing pace for a month or so). Right now I'm just glad that I got up and got some miles in.
Today (so far) was a good day!
Soaring Wings training started today (well yesterday actually but I didn't run)... 3 miles done, many more to come Stay tuned
