"The sex tells the story, so it never felt gratuitous to me. The sex is character development. The sex is what is moving this relationship forward, and watching it change over time."

Hey did y'all forget about Noah Schnapp waving around pro-zionist merch and saying zionism is sexy or...
Mmkay so, since this one's gaining traction, I wanna answer a couple of comments I've received on this and other post, with more info I've gathered about all this.
First, @grandmags pointed me in the direction of a link (thank you, fam, I really did lose it) that, for what I can tell, had the intention of clarifying things that Noah said or did, but at this point, that one has become a game of "he said but she said." I'm not interested in playing. Both, people in support and against him, have said different things about what he did or didn't do, and I couldn't find anything official on my own, so I won't entertain that post further than for one thing: I had no idea of the harassment he had faced even before the zionist controversy sprouted, but I should've imagined it (him being queer and Jewish make him an easy target); that one I'm against.
What actual sources say and what I could find is, the original video that started this whole conversation is very real and puts him in a very bad spotlight if you're against zionism. He also said, "You either stand with Israel or you stand with terrorism.", and he did "apologize", but not for any of his declarations. I wouldn't call what he did an apology, actually, because he only clarified that the people misinterpreted his words and that he wanted peace for both sides, not a word about the video, not a word about genocide. It was a statement with a very neutral stance that didn't even address the first controversy that got him into a blacklash.
Second, @grandmags and others shared a similar sentiment to this one (id in alt):
And the thing is, I half agree and half don't.
He was young, yeah, and we can give him the benefit of doubt and said he didn't know any better, but again, he didn't really apologize for anything, and calling that out it's not vilifying him.
But what y'all seem to be forgetting tho, is that these actors are part of a millonaire franchise. They have PR teams that back them and try to keep their image intact, or the best that would suit them to promote whatever project they're part of.
They're not alone at all within their social media: His appearance on the pro-zionist video damaged his reputation and, in consequence, the project he's a main character in. The video he posted afterwards is literally just damage control, not an apology.
I'm not saying this to say those aren't his real sentiments, because that's the thing, we can't know if he feels or not a certain way, we cannot tell whether this was heartfelt or not, because we don't know them. But we do know how marketing and PR work, and this was a very logical step to take from a company that's trying to launch a successful product perspective.
Now, @fatfatgaybitch, amongst other things, said (id in alt):
I'm not sure 'bout blaming mob mentality for all this fam. If y'all check my blog, you'll see I ain't even on the Stranger Things' fandom (I barely keep up with stuff that happens on the fandoms I am part of), but I can tell you, I at least used to be incredibly fond of him in particular because he was Jewish and gay and out. I thought he was brave, so everything else that's happened afterwards has been a disappointment, to say the least.
I don't think he's an evil person either; that's not for me to decide, but let's be clear on one thing: things might change, and he might make another declaration in the future, but from what I could gather, he has not made any statement against zionism, nor has he said anything about Palestine's liberation itself. You could argue there are plenty of celebrities who didn't make statements too; however, they were not hanging around people with "zionism is sexy" stamps either.
So forgive me, but I don't see this change y'all are talking about.
And although my first post was about him in specific (because he in specific was who was trending), you are correct in the statement of "There are so many celebrities guilty of so much worse": in this regard, the boycott of Stranger Things wasn't just called because of Noah, even if he was the one with the biggest impact (I mean he IS one of the main characters), it was also for Brett Gelman's, proud zionist, remarks and declarations, because Ross Duffer signed a pro-Israeli letter directed at Joe Biden in 2023, and even before all of this happened there was already calls for boycotting or at least some repercusions for Netflix's itself after filming things for last seasons on literal nazi prisons that they then turned into a Stranger Things themed airbnb.
Both of the users I mentioned so far were fairly civil in this exchange, and I don't @ them for anything but citing sources. I don't desire for any more harassment coming out of this towards them either.
These next declarations, however, were directed in a more personal way, and I will answer in that same vein:
See, the thing is, I do care. And I know plenty of people who care, both in real life and online.
Acting as if having half a backbone of determination for something so simple as "not watching a show" is such an impossible feat for everyone... says more about how you are the one who doesn't care, not anyone else.
Don't comply in advance, kids.
One, online activism is activism, and I'm tiiired of people acting as if just because it happens online it has no impact in the real world. Second, shit man, not sure if you noticed, but this ain't TikTok, I don't even have that app on my phone. Don't you think that speaks more about how this situation is more than well-known? It's not happening on a bubble that I can tell you. And third, I was not pretending to be an activist by telling you, "Hey, maybe don't watch this," but the thing is, you don't know me. You don't know shit about me. You don't know wether or not I'm an activist or a journalist or a don't-give-a-fucker in real life, and you don't get to say whether or not I care about other human beings when you're judging me only because I posted "hey, maybe don't watch a show that gives zionists a platform".
So yeah, I won't be watching Stranger Things, and I'd encourage you to not watch it either. If you really, really, reeeeally cannot miss it for anything in the world, pirate it man, it ain't that hard. Just don't give it any promotion. It really is not that difficult, I believe.
