In season 3 of bridgerton when they changed Michael to Michaela I was initially angry. I knew the backlash would be astronomical. I hadn't read the books or even watched the show at the time but I was a fan of the show. I felt that by changing Michael's gender it was like changing the race of a Disney princess. They could've made a separate show with a separate storyline for the sake of writing lesbians in the regency era.

I recently watched season 2,3 and 4 and now I'm praying this goes well. I would be a liar if I said I didn't see the spark between them. I would also be a fool to say that the show is true to the books. Bridgerton is not meant to be historically accurate. The majority of the bridgerton's are in interracial marriages, the queen is a black woman. So why can't there be a lesbian?

As a lesbian who has been a victim of the bury your gays trope and the many other horrible tropes that we've accumulated over the years I will say that they have a 50% of getting this right. So far they've built the attraction, the yearning, the chemistry.

Now all I hope for is 8 episodes, with pinning and yearning at its peak, with steamy sex scenes (cause fran needs to reach her pinnacle), with a banger of a playlist, a dance in front of the queen, a proposal and maybe if we're lucky a grand wedding.
