They keep as much liquid as possible in their bodies since when they were first getting started water wasn't always available. Like a desert.

Most of them are reptile and amphibian based, so clowns like regular, mixed breed, and on the occasion bell clown all have a secondary tongue for smelling.

And finally their skeletal structure!

Clowns don't have arm or leg bones, they just have a spine, pelvis, rib cage, and skull, their arms are very flexible and stretchy so why bother having bones where they aren't needed?

i like this, i especially like that the males lay eggs and the females dont, its a very unique take on the "both genders carry" thing i havnt seen it done that way before yet, also interesting that despite that difference they're still compatible

i do this with my stuff a lot, my Aethelarians for example only come in one gender and can carry but can present as male or female, but the biology is always the same or at least functions the same for both "genders" so theres no real difference between the male and female bodies tho i still label them as such based on how developed their chest is

But sapience is more so their intelligence lvl, how good their thinking skills are, if they behave solely on instict vs thinking things out or planning, which is what i think u were referring to

i like the thought u put into the body, the extra reproductive organs take up space so obviously the digestive system has to go up a lil, and ofc something with a lil to no solid support needs to be strong enough to support itself (tho there are a couple things i would add as advice for these things im not gonna bc advice wasnt asked for)

Also cool that they're amphibian/reptilian like, wouldnt have thought of them that way myself

With that I was thinking how tongues have no bones are are able to support themselves so if you have any info for that it would be greatly appreciated so I can better flush out how that works.

And yeah, sapience is definitely what I meant, not super intelligent myself with big words without having to know the exact definition.

The basic insides I made up years ago (feels like years) because biology class in general was so genuinely interesting to me.

I like that u tried to give them some support with the cartilage but i think that would be counterproductive since while cartilage is much softer than bone it still cant stretch of bend thr way i imagine u want their arms to

Feel the cartilage in ur nose, its still firm, u cant pull or stretch it like u can with other tissues bc it is still there for structural support

And while its not soft its definitely way softer than bones and the leg bones are some of the strongest in ur body bc they're tasked with holding up everything else, cartilage couldn't fill that role especially considering the extra strong/dense muscles up top needed to use boneless arms, they would be like the standard cotnish cross meat chickens with their legs constantly breaking under their own weight

Making them more like an elephant trunk or octopus arms which are both very flexible and used to effectively grab, move, and feel like normal arms/legs would work around that issue

Also since their digestive system is pushed up top i would say they might need bigger chest cavities for the same reason their organs were pushed up to begin with, or a longer torso so everything can still stack without invading anyones space

Assuming they have a diaphragm having everything set higher could make these critters more prone to getting hiatal hernias, it might also affect their diet as being constricted by other organs and the ribs would mean they cant eat much before getting full and regardless of cartilage or lack of it having to support their full weight on boneless legs would need a lot of energy and nutrients which could be hard if they physically can't eat as much as their body requires .3.

Idk if any of this was already mentioned, tbh most of that part went right over my head, the visuals were too much for my autistic sleep deprived brain to handle and i couldn't read it XP /pos

also i get what u mean, and a lot of peeps do say that birds laying eggs are like a period but thats not the case, and this doesnt need fixing at all im just informing :>

The process for birds is that a yolk is released from the ovary and goes to the infundibulum where it can be fertilized if sperm is present, then it travels through the oviduct where it gets its shell and all that until its laid and this is ovulation 🥚 ✨️

And then theres the case of them all being the same species but being so vastly different, i think it would make more sense for clowns to be a family or at least a genus and the different clown types to be their own separate species rather than subspecies of the same overall kind

This might bring up the issue of interbreeding but tigers and lions are different species but can still make ligers bc they're so close under the same genus and family so it wouldnt hurt that for the clowns

For the muscle strength and energy thing, in the clown town wiki it says they have a high sugar diet and anything that isn’t basically a fist full of pure sugar they think is gross, I think this might help with the energy thing.

I know I said their reproductive organs are large but compared to the clown as a whole if you had that thing in your hands it wouldn’t be any bigger than like a grocery store ham, they do however have a plat, or lining, or whatever the term for it is, of tissue that kinda separates the reproductive from the digestive organs, and the reproductive sit really low in the pelvis, I do agree about the larger chest cavity though and will try to make their shoulders wider to represent that.

But as far as the outside of them goes they do have more of an exoskeleton like skin, I know, an internal and external skeleton probably shouldn’t go together but ima use a little movie magic with this, I did a mock up and I’m still working it out in my head.

Also I think a lower gravity would make maybe sense? But honestly I have no idea how bones and muscles truly work, also thank you for the info with the egg thing, that makes way more sense now.

As for the cartilage maybe something with a similar cell structure? Worse case I give up on this all making sense and focus on culture for a while.
