I only ask this question in the context of the trans rights debate about trans women athletes competing in women's sports anyway. So it's already pretty wrapped up in a topic that right wing people consider icky anyway. It's amusing to me that they're taking it entirely at face value, and not specifically in the context of the debate about trans athletes.

It does seem very silly to me though. Like, most sports are not full contact anyway. If we were talking about American Football, I could maybe see the argument. But that just opens the can of worms that American Football is a disgustingly dangerous and hazardous sport anyway.

To be fair it is just a foible of the translation software. The word in Japanese 色気 has a lot of nuance that cannot be conveyed in a simple one word English translation.

The idea being conveyed is more that Sonic has an enticing allure, an unspoken and quiet impactful aura that fascinates and intrigues. It is often associated with sex appeal, but it's more enchanting. It’s about presence, atmosphere, and the emotional residue that lingers in silence.

I think it is very appropriate to apply such a concept to Sonic. A character who lets his actions speak for themselves more often than not. Whose presence can be felt on the wind even when he isn't there. Who leaves an impact on everyone he meets with even the smallest of interactions.

It is VERY funny to see the words "sexiness" associated with Sonic on an official post though lol

Does this comic take place in an alternate timeline where the events of Sonic 06 never happened or something?

News flash Ian Flynn you fucking worthless idiot, Sonic 06 ends with Elise blowing out the fire of Solaris thus erasing him from the timeline. The flames of disaster do not exist anymore. Solaris was never split into mephiles and iblis, Ibis was never sealed inside Elise, and therefore there are no flames of disaster in existence.

There is no reason for something called the flames of disaster to exist as a mythological concept in Soleanna in the state timeline after the events of Sonic 06.

There is no excuse this time. This comic is OVERFLOWING with human characters. This wasn't a restriction imposed on them by mandates. ABT COULD have drawn an ACTUAL Soleanna guard here. He CHOSE not to.

Wow look at that, IDWs depiction of one of Sonic's famous casino themed levels is bland boring and "down to earth" and "realistic." It looks like just a regular place. And not a SONIC THE HEDGEHOG location.

Roulette Road was featured in Crossworlds Racing the most recent Sonic game so no this is not a matter of direction from SEGA or a shift to depicting the world of Sonic in a more grounded way. This is purely the creators of the comic being allergic to drawing Sonic's world in a way that is authentic to the games.

Mina the Hollower didn't "bait and switch" by "pretending" to be a Zeldalike but actually it's a darksoulsemup. It's just a Zelda x Castlevania fusion with a safe room checkpoint system, and has corpse run and limited healing resource mechanics.

I am BEGGING you to play more video games. Dark Souls did not INVENTED these mechanics. It didn't even popularize them. That's like attributing Quick Time Events to fucking Resident Evil 4. Yes, Resident Evil 4 HAD quick time events and was also very popular and successful. But I assure you, games featuring quick time events were being made before RE4 and would have continued being used in games if RE4 was never made.

And Mina the Hollower probably would have had checkpoint safe rooms, corpse running, and limited healing resources even if Dark Souls didn't exist. Because those are just the natural mechanics to implement given the nature of Yacht Club's experience after developing Shovel Knight and the style of game Mina was going to be.

Also if you were looking at this game featuring a character running around swinging a whip straight out of Castlevania and weren't expecting it to be difficult, then I don't know what to tell you dude. Castlevania games are tough. And this game was always very overtly Castlevania inspired.

I'm just as happy to meme about it as anyone, but Sonic Channel did not call Sonic a Japanese word that means "mature sexiness." They called him 色気 "iroke" and the translation software just turned that into sexiness because there's no English equivalent to what that word is meant to convey.
