anti paras tend to hold the beliefs of ‘anti para unless anti contact’ in a guilty until proven innocent sense, the conflation of paraphile with predator is so deeply ingrained from decades of social stigma that it provides people with a safety net to acceptably say that we should kill and harm paraphiles.

as someone who has personality disorders, these disorders sometimes compel me or make me desire to harm people. acting upon my desires to hurt people around me would be physically and emotionally traumatic for strangers and even people I care about. why can you rationalise empathy for people like me, when this pertains to BPD, NPD, ASPD, schizophrenia, etc? if someone was to say ‘anti NPD, except anti abuse ones’ why is that unacceptable, but ‘anti para, except anti contact ones’ is acceptable?

do you understand that sexual taboo is affecting the way you treat and think about human beings? do you understand that sex being integrated into the conversation is what’s affecting your mental shift from ‘person with a condition’ to ‘predator’ as soon as the conversation moves to paraphiles? ‘narc abuse’ is a condemned term in these communities for conflating a condition with abuser. but conflate ‘paraphile’ with ‘predator’ and you very wilfully submit to a decades long psyop that has also been historically used to hurt the gay and trans community.

it’s frustrating that I try and keep this blog mogai focussed, but more and more violence and bullying is being incited towards various groups that already suffer from social stigma. you aren’t interested in protecting children if you can’t get over your own internal biases— who is going to protect the children who are paraphiles? who is going to protect the victims who are paraphiles?

Paraphiles don't always have paraphilic disorders. Paraphilic disorders get diagnosed after a psychiatrist identifies the paraphilia AND the distress caused from it. If there is none, then they don't qualify for the disorder. (Source: Medscape)

On Tumblr, para discourse usually refers to three paraphilias: pedo, necro, and zoophilia. Other paraphilias, such as Transvestic fetishism (arousal from crossdressing), arent usually argued about because acting on those paraphilias wouldn't hurt anyone except maybe the paraphile themselves.

Pro Para means supporting paraphiles, Anti para is the opposite.

That being said, on Tumblr when someone says they're "anti-para minus anti contact" that's a good thing because not everyone who identifies with being a paraphile is acting on good faith. Communities based on NPD don't have a reputation for normalizing abuse, communities based on Paraphilias do (see: radqueer, xenosatanist)

Being "anti NPD except the ones who are anti abuse" doesn't make sense because there's nothing inherently abusive about NPD.

In other words, sounds like a false equivalence and being wary with people who openly call themselves paraphiles is a good thing and important to making sure you don't let in creeps. Honestly, same thing goes for anyone who openly associates themselves with something negative (I already steer clear of people who openly say they're jackasses)

That being said, I'm willing to bet a good amount of people in the MOGAI community are minors who are pretty isolated (on account if being queer), so discouraging people from being "anti para minus anti contact" isnt something I'd recommended— good intentions aside.

I’m pretty sure it’s called prejudice when you base your opinion on a whole varied group of people on the actions of some people within that group. I also don’t consider it a good thing to refer to yourself as ‘anti [group of people]’ in general if that group is not inherently harmful even if you follow that up with a caveat.

Radqueer is not a community “based on paraphilias” radqueer is a community (that I believe is flawed and promotes an unsafe environment for minors) that is very supportive of paraphiles and contains a lot of them, because, shockingly, paraphiles who have been constantly demonised online tend to turn to a community that supports them. Don’t you think, granted that many victims and even minors are paraphiles, we should try and prioritise supporting them so that they DON’T have to turn to these communities you speak of that can lead these people to harmful mindsets rather than isolating them by assuming they’ll cause harm by default?

And there’s also nothing inherently abusive about being a paraphile or having a paraphilic disorder? These people are not destined to harm people. In fact, many many people who are sexually abusive and offending predators are not in fact paraphiles at all.

So what about children and vulnerable groups who are paraphiles, have paraphilic attraction? When we talk about protecting children, do we factor in these people who need to be protected from the prejudice of others? Do you think they are safe if they are assumed to be inherently dangerous due to something utterly out of their control? And like I mentioned about, don’t you think that supporting the idea of being ‘anti’ them will push them into harmful communities that do support them no matter what?
