Hey yall, I highly suggest you watch this. TLDR; PayPal is auto banning accounts that get frequent income and outgoing money. More specifically people in the art community because they're not selling tangible goods. PayPal calls this a high risk acc (theorized that it's high risk for charge backs because people like to abuse the system, but of course theres more to this) and they are banning people and holding their money. People are getting little to no support from PayPal customer service and PayPal withholds their money for 180 days. However at the end of those 180 days, PayPal still SEIZES all the money for "Damages and investigation." PayPal is refusing to comment to any media news sources or individuals questioning their ban.

Some things you should definitely ALWAYS BE DOING for every single PayPal use:

1. Invoices, invoices, invoices. Always constantly and I mean *every time* you either pay for OR take commissions yourselves USE. AN. INVOICE. I still see rampant use of friends and family to avoid the fees but that does not protect you or your funds, you are providing a service, you have to coordinate fees that go with that service. Yes it sucks! But its necessary.

2. Never ever ever mark NSFW in your titles. Paypal started dinging NSFW purchases a WHILE ago and how you handle taking those comms is still on you, but as far as the title or description of the invoice goes it will go a VERY long way if you don't put NSFW in the description at all.

3. Digital goods checkmark. PayPal added it a LONG ass time ago that you can mark your invoices as 'this is a digital good' and that prevents both charge backs and will significantly decrease how your 'suspicious activity comes' across.

4. Paypal is used to transfer funds. It is NOT a proper bank!! Do not use it to just accumulate a number, get your money and get it deposited or used as you need. Letting it just sit there isn't beneficial and it looks like you don't want you money to be tracked via bank deposit, increasing how 'suspicious' it looks.

Its not a perfect guide and it definitely depends on how deep paypals kind of activity goes on this sort of thing. But I've seen enough artist NOT using paypal properly in the first place that the extent of whats being claimed makes me raise a brow.
