its really darkly funny that so many public figures keep dying "of cardiac complications after a brief illness" like wow y'all are Never ever going to say the word COVID huh.
Like it may very well be covid, but this specific cohort of guys are statistically speaking lifelong fans of uppers, and they are also extremely never ever going to say "cocaine-induced stroke."
They're also just... elderly? It's really not unusual for folks in their 70s and 80s to die of heart attacks.
Graham apparently has family history, I saw it reported that his dad died at 67 of a heart attack, and the poster was speculating Deep Vein Thrombosis could be the cause of his sudden death. Anyone on long plane flights is at risk, and Graham DID just fly to Ukraine and back on a short turnaround.
having had COVID, which we know Graham did, increases the likelihood of cardiac events and blood clots.
once again I need to stress how much I am not spouting conspiracy theories to say that 1. many people (including many public figures) dying of "cardiac events after a brief illness" in the last several years is almost certainly related to COVID, given that almost everyone has gotten it at least once now and many people have gotten it repeatedly, and we know now that damage is accumulated each time, and 2. those in power have a vested interest in denying COVID as a factor in these deaths.
We're six years into this.
it is not conspiracy-brained to state that the government is intentionally ignoring and suppressing the severity of this illness. that's just true. no, we don't have enough information to be entirely sure about a lot of things yet -- that's why it's so important to KEEP UP WITH THE EMERGING RESEARCH. you will not find out about it through legacy media, you have to follow the actual groups and people doing the research and seek the information out yourself.
It's easy for people in power to intentionally look away and cover their eyes about the severity of a emergent disease, particularly when the impact of that disease hits marginalized communities the hardest. it happens all the time. it is not conspiracy theorizing to point this pattern out.
I love her so much

Hey guys. Thank you again to the folks who have shared so far as usual, and those who have donated past and present.
Things arent looking good. We've not really gotten any donations, and I'm out of time. My bank account is significantly overdrafted at the moment, so the rent is paid but now i'm on a crunch to actually put the money in my account accrue debt.
If anyone forgot whats goin on: I'm a disabled and black trans man who is no longer able to work due to long covid. I am currently waiting for my disability determination, but have no other income. My partners full time job is not remotely sufficient to support us.
If you'd like to help us stay housed and fed th8s month, you can donate to:
Paypal: [email protected]
Venmo: @ zawehzaweh (remove space)
Any little bit goes a long way and i am so grateful for that help and the aid that has been provided in the past!!! We...dont exactly have anythin to sell or many people to turn to irl, so other options are very limited. One of which I'd like to avoid unless absolutely necessary, but i will do anything to keep my family safe.

The gift art just keeps on coming~ Maybe we'll get to see everyone's, but it's okay if some prefer privacy~
Anyway, I digress. Today, I found two more! This is the first one, mangaka Umi Shiina. She's the author behind "I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die." Apparently, Sensei REALLY loved this story, which ended last year! The alt text has the translation of her message and it's basically like reading a reader's comment after posting an update (something I remember fondly of my own works~)
re: last reblog, "sometimes it was always in the art but you can never reverse engineer it" what i mean by that is imo it's always fine to critique and dissect art and media through social and cultural lenses, but people should only take them as no more or less than that. while i understand and even agree w/ "it is fine to dislike something w/o moral or ethical justifications," i dislike the implication that having critiques/analysis of art that are socially conscious is an all or nothing proposition of complete condemnation/complete endorsement of said art. anyway, i do not think it is easy, in fact it is very difficult (esp in fandom-oriented environments), but it's always worth discussing how art relates to the world and people around us but without implicating the artist(s) as synonymous or "culpable" for your critiques.
Dang rip America

I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person
BUT
a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."
#such a good summation of this actually#because yeah thereβs usually things that were always present#but which were easy to overlook or give the benefit of the doubt#that suddenly become relevant after a revelation about the creator#and itβs really not the same thing as the self-defensive ββI never liked it anywayβ
