Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case

Don’t worry, guys. Carl is clearly a brachiosaurus, which lived during the Jurassic period. (And before anyone says our lil’ boy Steve is a velociraptor and therefore puts our comic in the late cretaceous, aka the time of the comet–that lil guy could easily be a compsognathus or a caudipteryx, both Jurassic-era species of small theropod dinosaurs. So the light getting bigger every night is going to pass by harmlessly, and Steve and Carl can go on enjoying the stars together until they die of old age, since Carl has very few natural predators at his size and I bet he’ll protect Steve, if he needs it (though small, fast and carnivorous as Steve is, he probably won’t).
I think it’s important to note that you’re not going to connect on a super deep level with every friend you have. There are many kinds of friendship and some of them involve just going for coffee, or just talking about a single, certain subject, or just chatting about books, or meeting up when the other is in town and doing the “how have you been?” routine for an hour and then saying goodbye.
Not every friendship is going to be this we-connect-on-every-level-no-one-has-ever-understood-me-this-way sort of soulmate. And that’s ok.
I think it’s important to note that there’s a difference because I never had the latter, what I’ll just call a kindred spirit, until I got to high school. And after that, I wanted all of my friendships to be like that, and when they weren’t I got frustrated, and probably ended up hurting a lot of people in the process when I burnt out or realized that isn’t what I really wanted.
Kindred or casual, neither is better than the other. Both are good. It’s ok to have kindred spirits and it’s ok to have casual friends–human beings need both. You can’t get to know everyone intimately, it’s impossible and exhausting.
And I just feel like there’s this perception that you have to have a best friend, like you have to choose, and you have to hold onto them for years and years and years, and all of your friends have to be kindred spirits or they’re “acquaintances” and I’ve seen so many people categorize their friends as like … if someone doesn’t know you intimately and won’t do certain things for you that are associated with kindred spirits they’re not “real/true friends” and I keep seeing this demarcation between “friends” and “best friends” and I think that’s kind of an unhealthy attitude and I don’t really think that’s true.
Sometimes you need someone you can spill your soul to, who peers into all your dark corners, who youdon’t lie to and who you feel gets you in a way no one else has. And that’s good and that’s healing.
Sometimes you just need someone who will geek out with you about a new rock or a new album or who is down for meeting you at a diner at 3 am or whatever and that’s it and there aren’t any expectations for soul-bearing (which is exhausting let me tell u what) and you’re both fine with that. And that’s good and that’s healing.
Listen, life is full of some really amazing things, and you’re going to meet some really amazing people. Sometimes they’ll hold your hand for the whole journey, or a long portion of it, and sometimes, they’ll just grab you and spin you around before letting go. And both are good.
It doesn’t matter how long they held it, what matters is that they took your hand. What matters is that they left you laughing.
Racism against Indians is actually a little insane when you consider how widespread it is even among liberals and leftists . Even people who consider themselves to be progressive will laugh at call center or tech support jokes. All scammers are inherently indian. It’s okay to laugh at jokes making fun of Indians for their feelings towards animals or how they drive. India is inherently backwards and dirty so it’s okay to make jokes about getting food poisoning from even looking at indian food
We cannot even talk about racism towards us without someone jumping in and going “well this other group has it worse” SHUT up. Genuinely shut up. This isn’t a competition. It’s like we don’t even exist.
“I’m not into Indian girls, but you look [other ethnicity]” you’re into Indian girls.
“Omg I love Indian food” and it’s just butter chicken or chicken tikka masala.
“Chandelier earrings” you mean my jhumkas?
“I love avatar/atla” you don’t know what the concept of an avatar even is.
“Your slums are dirty” tell that to the unusually low Covid rates in those slums.
“Indians don’t experience colourism” that is certainly an echo chamber chronically online take.
Exams during our festival season while every other religion gets their days off. Told to speak English when many of us in the diaspora already do (thanks colonialism!). Made to take English exams or considered international students on the basis of our names. Overlooked in job applications. Blamed for climate change. Blamed for lack of jobs. Blamed for crashing economy. Blamed for terrorism (more issues there). Random TSA checks. Random hate crimes. Stolen culture. Stolen property.
Uncredited for simple things everyone does nowadays. Coconut oil, miswak, mehndi, indigo, the number 0, banking cheques, chess, yoga, chakras, third eye, evil eye, turmeric, clean girl aesthetic, lost wax casting, bindis, kohl, dupattas, bangles, courtyards in houses, paisley, the very concept of rebirth and reincarnation. I could go on.
The racism towards Indians is so entrenched in every single western culture that nobody bothers to look twice when India suffers a heat wave. You all love Greece and Rome but did you know they directly benefitted from trade with the Indian subcontinent? Did you know Indians were taken as indentured labourers too? Did you know we were slaves too? And I’m speaking for South Asia as a whole here, did you know many of us are still slaves?
We’re not asking you to elevate us. We’re telling you to acknowledge us, and to do so without putting us in competition with any other racialized group.

If you want to support intersex people, stop using the TMA/TME binary.
I’m saying this as an intersex person.
The general consensus (from what I’ve seen) is that TMA means “transmisogyny affected” and TME means “transmisogyny exempt”. At first it sounds like a good binary, but quickly falls apart once you see its flaws.
In usage, TMA refers exclusively to transfeminine or “AMAB” people. It does not acknowledge the transmisogyny faced by those who would be exempt from it.
For example, a gender-nonforming cis woman would face transmisogyny for looking like a transgender woman. Would she still be TME, despite being a target?
An intersex man would be considered TME, but if he goes through an estrogenising puberty that makes him look feminine and become a target of transmisogyny, would he become TMA or stay TME?
Is a non-binary person TME or TMA? I know it depends on their assigned gender at birth, which makes the whole point of this flawed system completely moot.
And ignoring all those said flaws, what is the point of inventing entirely new binaries just to show who is “exempt” from bigotry, when everyone can face it one way or another?
What about the entire intersex community, who can’t neatly fit into every single binary you make? What about those who can’t be categorised as “TME”, nor “TMA”?
It is simply intersexist in almost every way. There is no point of showing who can be and can’t be affected by transmisogyny when you refuse to acknowledge the millions of people who don’t neatly fit in a binary.
And if your first thought is some form of “I don’t care” or “they’re TME by default” then you are the problem. This sort of binary is actively harming the community and only putting everybody in a divide.
Stop making useless binaries and actually focus on the real problems that plague the world!
Focus on the transgender men who are being silenced because of their assigned sex at birth!
Focus on the intersex babies being forcibly mutilated before they can even crawl!
Focus on the transgender people facing execution, possibly being stoned or flogged for the mere act of being transgender!
Focus on SOMETHING ELSE! Do a change in the world! Advocate for your community! Protest transphobic laws, regulations and policies that are being passed around the world!
Stop focusing on yourself, and help the people everywhere who are being actively kicked out of their homes, killed, and mutilated against their will for being queer!
And most importantly, stop referring to yourself as “TME” or “TMA”. It helps no one and only signals to the wrong people. It actively divides the community and harms everybody.
All of this is happening around the world, even in some of the most progressive nations. This is not limited to the “backwards” and “savage” countries. This can happen in yours, too!
My own country has me banned from a normal life for being queer. I face a potential death penalty for being gay. I won’t even be able to go on Hajj if anyone finds out I’m transgender. I won’t even be able to practice my own culture!
I am forced to stay in a shell that isn’t mine. A shell with spikes—one I can not move in and one I can barely breathe in.
And I’m supposed to care about being “TME” and respecting every single order from radfems who live privileged lives where there is little to worry about—where most of their problems are little and far in-between.
I am supposed to respect the same people who hate my mere existence, who want me dead for the mistake of being a man, while the people around me actively talk about the “disease” that is queerness and how they want to protect me from it.
I am supposed to shut my mouth and let the people who mutter “theyfab”, “transandrobro”, and every single other slur under the sun at me speak for the entire community.
While my own people are ACTIVELY being shunned out of society for acting gay. For crossdressing. For having a face that looks even slightly feminine or too far from their assigned sex.
While my own people are being forced to “get fixed”. To undergo genital surgery for being intersex. While they are being actively murdered for having ambiguous genitalia.
And you care about me not being your model view of a good queer?
B-but people with micropenises are my emotional support minority to bully!! 🥺🥺 B-but it's funny that their penises are small!! 🥺🥺 B-but I only make fun of BAD people by calling their penises small!! 🥺🥺 I have good reason to make fun of people with micropenises!! 🥺🥺 It's not intersexism if it's funny!! 🥺🥺 It's sooo funny because their penises are small!! 🥺🥺 Guys it's sooo funny come on!! 🥺🥺
Question because I never have seen a definition: what counts as ambiguous genetalia? Is it just any genital variation? <- (asking as someone who can probably pass as mullerian but does have two genital variants(?))
Interestingly worded ask but I'll work with it. I've seen it most often describing people's genital sets when they're "in-between" a penis and vulva setup, or in other words its *ambiguous* if you're looking at a penis or a vulva. Intersex people CAN have both a penis and a vagina... with the catch being one or both structured are underdeveloped or don't work like the perisex equivalent(s). There's also the agenital spectrum (link), which describes the "opposite" of what ambiguous genitalia (link) is? Not to say you can't be on both spectrums at once, of course, or other related traits. Quick warning the second link to ambiguous genitalia mentions the H-slur uncensored!
Reposting a couple charts below the cut. Anatomy diagrams of genitalia.

kinda crazy how like every cult documentary is like "here's the survivors we spoke to who all have a range of different experiences, beliefs, talents, skills and stories" and all the survivors of the cult are like "i consider myself a rational person and this initially gave me a sense of community and was offering me the one thing i needed, it was a wonderful experience at first and i was surrounded by people i loved and who loved me, and by the time i realised how bad things had gotten i was in too deep and had alienated all my friends and family outside of the group and had been brainwashed over a period of time to think that any suffering was deserved and that by leaving i would be causing harm to myself and everyone i knew, and if things had been good once then maybe they would be again, and i had to believe that because i had nothing else left" and then half the reviews are people talking about how stupid cult survivors are and how they would NEVER be so dumb to join a group like this, clearly these idiots KNOWINGLY joined a cult and therefore deserved everything that happened to them, maybe if they had tried been as smart and rational as me,
Things that I personally feel like should be talked about more regarding intersexuality:
-Not knowing whether you're technically closer to either perisex sex
-What sex and masturbation is like being intersex, particularly with any sort of differences in genitalia
-How different forms of HRT can affect you when you're intersex
-Having no fucking idea what your chromosomes could possibly be
-How it feels if you have a rare trait/variation, or how it feels when you don't know of anyone else with your combination of traits/variations, or how it feels to have an unnamed/unidentified trait/variation

if a black woman did the same thing sabrina carpenter does she would not get a fraction of fame or be actively bashed as a nastttty slut for doing it and i know this is true bc whenver we talk about white pop girls vs black pop girls the black ones r always talked about as more vulgar and perverse meanwhile their peers like ariana grande r making songs about getting fucked so hard she can’t walk but bc shes white she still gets to be called dainty and delicate and a uwu soft girlie
