I'm not sure what else he would've done in that situation that didn't result in carrying Scully. that was a lot of trauma for her in such a short time, but there was no way for her to remain in that vehicle safely. He was also freaked tf out by the slug even if it was dead. He just wanted to get both of them to safety. While technically intimate, I don't think John meant it with romantic intent at all.

Forever obsessed anytime Doggett says something like “I just don’t get that vibe” like my dear you’re so right. Sometimes the vibes are off (positive).
