This is an art GIFTING game ! Do not attack people expecting revenges. You do not owe anyone revenges !
Always COMMENT on every attack you receive ! It doesnt have to be a big wall of text for as long as you thank whoever draws for you, it's the bear minimum :] (note: if an attack is malicious just report and block)
Enjoy and have fun ! Artfight is a fun event meant to spend a good time. Do not feel pressured into doing lot of attacks !
Make sure to read one's permissions ! Everyone cares about their boundaries so please respect them. If you're unsure just ask !
STAY HYDRATED AND TAKE CARE !! It's really hot in some countries so remember to drink water, take a break every now and then, stretch if you're sitting for a while and go outside a bit :]
ADDING ONTO THIS: if you want more attacks, make sure you advertise your stuff!! post your team card on your social medias! advertise your profile on the #target-hunting channel on the art fight discord! fill out hitlists (you can find a bunch in the aforementioned target hunting channel)!
don’t only attack bigger artists with the expectation of getting free art from them, there are a lot of smaller artists who are way more likely to revenge you. scroll through the recently posted characters until you see one you like! check the #target-hunting channel (seriously, the target hunting channel is your best friend). if you check the pinned messages in the target hunting channel there’s a spreadsheet for advertising first-year art fighters or people with low defenses!
of course you should not expect to get a revenge from everyone, this is an art GIFTING game. no one owes you a revenge, and you shouldn’t fixate too much on defenses. but i see people complaining about getting no defenses every year so i just figured i’d share some tips for people who struggle to get their stuff out there :P
most importantly, have fun and take care of yourself!

Operations chief Andrew Macdonald said he's not seeing proportional productivity gains from increasing AI costs within Uber.
This reminds me of a story...
In the social media boom of the 2010s, I was a social media professional (a new career thanks to this very tumblr account and a short-lived career because I like my mental health).
Back then, it was obvious what platforms companies needed to be on: Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. Becase that’s where their customers and potential customers were.
Then, there came a rumbling through the profession. Our colleagues were told we had to be on Google+, it was going to be the new king social platform.
A lot of social media pros got their companies or clients to jump in with both feet. Some of us, however, took a beat and asked a simple question: “Who told you Google+ was necessary?"
We asked this because it felt like the reverse process of what had come before. Previous platforms grew into something first. No one could have predicted what a cultural juggernaut Tumblr became, the result of a sense of community among the users that formed organically and was fostered by the staff. Twitter started as a place where people dropped clever one-line jokes and became the largest and most critical breaking news outlet in the world (RIP Twitter).
But, in the case of Google+, no one seemed to be rushing to the platform. The user base was nearly non-existent. Yet, the buzz that it would be the next big thing was loud and, for that reason, many comapnies started official accounts and shifted a part of their social strategy to the platform. But still, if the numbers weren’t there, who was saying this?
The source of this new push to join Google+, it turned out, inevitably led back to Google. Yes, upper level Google staff had been telling tech bros, investors, and tastemakers Google+ was the future of social media. That trickled down to us plebes, the ones who would dutifully fulfill the prophecy.
Needless to say, it wasn’t the future of social media. It was a trainwreck that saw its few actual users spend 3-5 seconds per day on the platform compared to the hours per day people spent on Facebook.
Now, the “buyer’s remorse” over AI we’re seeing from all of these corporations feels very similar. It’s not users saying we need AI in every goddamn fucking thing, it’s AI companies. They're pushing a product tech overlords claim is the solution to a host of non-existent problems. And the companies got in line.
The difference this time is two-fold: Us plebes and commoners are fighting back and the companies that bought in are losing money. (At least a Google+ account was free.)
But, the truly shocking revelation is how fucking gullible these big CEOs are. They were told by AI salesmen that their already successful product will only continue to succeed if they bake in AI.
And what happened? One super fun example is how Google touted themselves as the best search engine in the world. Now, the first result on any search is an AI summary, followed with this warning in very small print:
That seems like a pretty clear admission that Google is not a reliable search engine any more.
So, I guess the moral of this story is: If you want to sell something for millions of dollars that no one needs, talk to a CEO.
Bonus moral: Google Search is the Google+ of Google.

My grandpa ran out on my grandma and mom back when it was still harder for women to get jobs, I’m pretty sure it was before women could have bank accounts.
My mom told me stories about her childhood where my grandma would take her to a hotdog stand and they would buy a hotdog to split, and that was their meal for the day. My mom said grandma never complained in front of her and always made everything seem so fun, she never realized they were poor until she grew up.
My nana met the man who raised my mom with her some years later. He’s always been the one I called grandpa, but we were never that close. My mom described how my grandma still saved every penny she could even after marrying my grandpa who made plenty of money. She went to work events with my grandpa while wearing second hand dresses she repaired herself, while the other women wore dresses worth thousands of dollars. My nana suddenly started voting conservative like my grandpa, but she never actually participated in political conversations or defended right wing politicians. She stayed silent, and acted constantly liberal in her every day life. My grandma suddenly became very depressed after my grandpa started staying much later at work and traveling for work more. The doctor said she needed more vitamin b. My mom once said she wondered if my grandma really was deficient, or if that grandpa cheated on my grandma like the first one did. Either way, she still smiled. She still kept the kids happy. She still spent all her time teaching kids in schools or volunteering at women’s shelters.
Her and my grandpa always got along, and I’m sure my grandpa loved her based on how he reacted after she passed. And I would feel wrong to assume my grandma changed herself for or just stayed in a marriage out of financial need without any proof. But the truth is- I’ve thought about it. I’m not sure. The truth is it would have been reasonable, it would have made sense. The truth is she lived in a world where that wouldn’t be rare at all and there’s no way to know for sure. She lived in a world where that’s just as likely, if not more, than staying with someone because you love them.
Because of will shenanigan my mom didn’t get all the inheritance my grandma saved up for her, but she got a fair chunk. My mom owns her own house, she’s financially stable and can soon get her teachers pension. She’ll be okay for the rest of her life even if her husband doesn’t support her. That’s something my grandma never had. She has it now because of my grandmas work and planning for that for my mother’s entire life until my grandma passed.
We are much more recently out of that world than many people realize, in fact I’d say we’re still in the doorway. I try to be like my grandma in some ways still. I stay alert, I pay attention. I give to others when I can- because someone has to. Because you’re only ever a bad day away from being them, and you’ll need someone’s kindness when that day comes.
