Not really though. You know you've internalized capitalism if you defend corporations. You know you've internalized capitalism because you think corporations are productive. You know you've internalized capitalism if you see technological progress as inevitable, but social progress as impossible. You know you've internalized capitalism if you see non-capitalist cultures as "undemocratic" or "superstitious" or "uncivilized" or whatever other word is used to justify imperialism in a particular age.
But, believing in hard work does not mean you've internalized capitalism. Work can bring happiness and the goal is not a society without work. The goal is for all kinds of work to be recognized as work â no labor should be made invisible and there should be no distinction between "work hard" and "play hard". The goal is also for peoples' work to strengthen themselves and their community, rather than supporting the senseless endeavors of capitalists.
How do I find myself a mathematical niche to live in?
Actual advice: follow the mathematical niches that come your way and don't try to pick and choose. but, also be curious and willing to spend time doing something you don't (yet) like. Do this for a bit and you will find yourself with some mathematical tools and perspectives that nobody else has. That's your niche and it is valuable!
