She literally went “debate me! Debate me!” Over and over like the grifter she is and when she couldn’t get what she wanted and when “no” wasn’t enough she resorted to retaliatory sex-pestery, posting an image of somebody’s body with intention to shame and embarrass and spawn more waspish tittering from her internet followers.

University of Kansas officials threatened disciplinary action against a transgender employee for using the women’s restroom on campus.

Janitor Siobhán Kirchstein told The Lawrence Times that she had been reported for violating Kansas’s strict bathroom law, which activists have described as the most aggressive anti-trans law in the country. The initial email to Kirchstein served as a warning that using a restroom designated for a sex other than the one assigned to an individual at birth now violated the law.

The university said it had received a complaint about Kirchstein using a women’s restroom in Parker Hall. Kirchstein said she does not work in an area with single-stall restrooms available to all genders. She has used the women’s restroom on campus for years without incident, she told the newspaper, and has no intention of complying with the law.

“I’ll stay until they basically fire me,” Kirchstein said. “If that’s what they want to do, that’s what I’ll do. But I have no intention of complying. No intention at all.”

That termination could happen. Last year, before the new law went into effect, KU fired transgender student worker Anthony Alvarez for speaking to the press about the university’s change in gender-inclusive housing policies, The Lawrence Times reported.

Kirchstein does not know who reported her. My immediate reaction was complete shock that anyone in the Kansas Geological Survey would do that to me in the first place,” Kirchstein said. “And then I was furious about it.”

The first email served as a notice to Kirchstein but made clear the consequences of violating the law. An individual reported a second time can face a $1,000 fine, and a subsequent violation can result in arrest on a misdemeanor charge. The university, meanwhile, can be fined $25,000 for a first violation of the law and $125,000 for each subsequent violation. It was unclear from the email to Kirchstein whether the institution was facing any fines.

But the letter to Kirchstein shows universities are prepared to enforce the law, even under duress.

A total of 1,598 respondents completed the survey, yielding a response rate of 27.1%. The sample was constructed to produce representative groups of LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ adults. While both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ respondents shared perspectives on police participation at Pride events, this research brief focuses exclusively on the perspectives of LGBTQ respondents (n = 798).

When you’re raised inside a single room with no escape in sight, forced to contort your body and your soul out of shape to conform, how could you not?

When we fight our way outside we come to realize there are others who were also raised in rooms like that.

And there’s some who upon gaining freedom decorate their room the way our prison was.

I have one piece of advice for you: sit with them. Drink some tea in that room that looks just like the one you almost died in. Internalize the fact that whoever lives there now is free to go and happy just to stay.

Manhood may not have been who you were. Masculinity might be foreign to you.

Testosterone might have done things to you that you hated.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*

trans men & transmasculine people's experiences with transphobia and misogyny and transphobic misogyny, are shaped by patriarchal attitudes around masculinity and how marginalized masculinity is seen not as something to be respected or valued, but a wild irrational dangerous animal to be subdued. this is a fundamental element of anti-transmasculinity (and anti-transfemininity and exorsexism, as well as racism!) you cannot separate the anti-masculinity from the anti-transmasculinity. you cannot even separate the misogyny from the anti-masculinity; one of the biggest things i think we talk about in this discussion is how anti-transmasculinity is a fundamental part of misogyny and the oppression of people classed as women.

transandrophobia is specifically about how this anti-masculinity targets trans men, but its inevitably going to part of the discussion of any person perceived as transmasc's experience of anti-transmasculinity. you cannot escape it! trying to escape it for the sake of not causing discourse or keeping the party line will only weaken your ability to analyze transmasculine oppression, or the oppression of trans people as a whole.

if you like the term anti-transmasculinity because it doesn't have the word "androphobia" or "misandry" in it, i beg of you, engage with these concepts beyond the surface level etymological criticisms that have been made to fucking death. you will learn a great deal on why these terms are used, the material foundations of why anti-masculinity must be discussed in a transfeminist context, and how transandrophobia/ATM theory draws on other trans/feminist works and theories to analyze gender from a transmasculine perspective.
