Arguably the worst thing about making collaborative media (comics, film, etc.) is that as a writer, you have specific frames of reference... and so you will sometimes say something like, "It's just like that part in..." and you will have spoiled that piece of media for someone.

It has happens all the time. Always unintentional and it goes both ways. I've been spoiled through other people's scripts or breakdowns of scenes, and I'm guilty of it too. It sucks.

Natalie Scatorccio Batman, Shauna Shipman Joker...

Walk with me.

I'm of the notion that Shauna only hates Nat because Nat has shown her nothing but kindness and empathy. Shauna sees Nat's kindness and asks, "Why?" To the point of mocking her. "You don't have to act like such a fucking saint." She wants to peel Nat back layer by layer and make her as bad as she is. But she can't. And she knows she can't because deep down she knows Nat is the best of them.

Because why else... would Shauna dream of Nat coming to check on her and wilderness baby, and Nat being happy and relieved that the baby is breastfeeding. Why would she have dreamt NAT and not someone else?

Shauna has this, "All you need is one bad day and you'll be just like me." mentality, but Nat, just like Batman is not easily broken.

I'm not going to compare their trauma. That isn't fair. But they've both been through a LOT and they've both also been through a lot TOGETHER. Nat has seen Shauna at her worst and vice versa. But the way they've both dealt with their trauma is incredibly different. While Shauna spirals out of control and becomes self-destructive, becomes the absolute worst version of herself, Nat tries her damndest to be what the group needs. She moves forward. Tries to atone. To make good and make sure sacrifices made weren't for nothing. While Shauna regresses and becomes more barbaric.

The difference between this... Shauna genuinely not wanting to kill Nat...

To this? Fucking chills...

In another life, I'd like to think they could have been best friends. They genuinely break my heart. 💔

I love both of them. Truly. Nat's my absolute favorite. I love Shauna too, though. We exist. This being said, I need them to FIGHT in season 4. And I am praying on Shauna's downfall.
