SO!! IāVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT JABBER A LOT, AND IM GOING TO SHARE MY THEORIES ABOUT HIS BACKSTORY +AMO PARALLELS
So, there are some main things Iām going to cover:
- how he talks and behaves almost childishly at times
- how he sees pain and pleasure at extreme levels at a young age
-his age and his own statements about his past
- parallels between jabber and Amo
So, Iām going to start out with Jabbers age. Jabber is 18, which is fairly young, and means anything from his past counts as his childhood. Mentally, Jabber is still an adolescent.
Now. Something I noticed about Jabber is that Mankiras rings donāt fit. He wears the rings one knuckle above where rings of that style are typically worn. This implies that Jabber had the rings for a long time, and had enough time to begin growing out of them.
Something else I want to point out is Jabbers resistance to toxins and poisons. Building up an immunity/resistance to poisons and toxins takes a long time, usually many years, and with the intensity of the toxins he uses, he had to have built up a resistance over many years
One theory that Iāve had for a while now is that jabber has some sort of past experience with being a victim of experimentation and torture. This could explain his resistance against toxins.
We also know Jabber is a masochist, at only 18 years old. Often times masochism in young people is a result of trauma and abuse, and maladaptive coping. Maladaptive coping is what i want to focus on because itās often a result of trauma
For some people, inflicting or enduring pain is used as a subconscious coping mechanism to numb emotional pain, or process feelings of helplessness.
I believe that Jabber may have experienced some sort of violent abuse throughout his childhood, and his masochism was developed as a result of maladaptive coping. Which brings me to the idea of misattribution of arousal
Misattribution of arousal is defined as a process where an individual makes a mistake in differentiating arousal from other sensations. For example, when someone is experiencing physiological responses related to fear or pain, ppl mislabel these feelings as sexual arousal
This ties into Amos backstory with Mister, where he leads her to believe that the pain and anxiety she feels during their āspecial ritualā, is actually love. This creates an interesting implication about Jabbers backstory
Given the information we already have, it could be inferred that Jabber was abused in a violent manner in his childhood, and as a way to cope he attributed the feelings of pain and fear to the more pleasurable feeling of arousal in order to escape distress and cope.
I want to talk more about his age and his experience with poisons. Like I said before, I believe he may have been experimented on in his childhood. And I want to talk about something I noticed when heās talking about his poisons
He talks about the poison he uses in a very childish manner. For one thing, he doesnāt seem to what the poisons he uses are actually called. He comes up with names for them that describe what they do, but he doesnāt have any solid specific names for them.
And the names have an almost childish quality to them. He describes them by how they FEEL to him and what they do, not what they ARE. He doesnāt use any real technical terms, which implies that he was never taught in a clinical setting.
Jabber, in general, tends to be very childish in behavior. He refers to fighting and violence as āplayingā, heās always seeking out fun, and he behaves towards people like how a child does with toys.
This could suggest a stunted mental development in certain areas, possibly as a coping mechanism or an intentional programming by an abuser, which brings me to the topic of programming abuse.
Programming abuse is a form of abuse where an abuser or āhandlerā, attempts to rewire the victimās brain in a way that directly benefits the abuser. This is a method of abuse common in RAMCOA, or āRitual Abuse, Mind Control, and Organized Abuseā.
It refers to a highly complex, long-term, sadistic trauma inflicted by groups, networks, or cults. Programming abuse would fall under the category of mind control, as it is intended to break their will and manipulate their thoughts in a way that benefits the abuser(s)
This ties back to Amo and Mister. While the abuse Amo endured wasnāt perpetrated by an organized group, the method Mister used was similar to that of programming, where he used manipulation to alter Amos thoughts in a way that benefited him.
Straying away from this for a moment, I want to point out the fact that Jabber has mentioned a few times that he has been fighting people stronger than him for a long time. He also says it in a way that implies he had to fight A LOT of people stronger than him.
This adds to a part of my theory about why Jabber might love fighting so much and sees it as play. I believe that Jabber may have been part of some sort of fighting ring in his childhood, and was programmed by his abusers to enjoy it
This could explain why jabber uses more childish words when talking about fighting, like how he refers to it as āplayingā. Itās possible that his abusers programmed young jabber to believe that the fighting he was engaging in was simply playing
Another thing I noticed is how jabber has a tendency to kinda zone out but abruptly lock back in, or how he seems very out of it sometimes but other times heās more hyper aware and observant. These behaviors are similar to those of people who have experienced trauma.
Now I want to tie this back to Jabberās relationship with Zodyl. He seems to have an almost childlike respect or attachment to Zodyl, and he acts more openly childish and hyper with Zodyl.
We also know that Zodyl āplaysā with Jabber, presumably to keep him in check. We also know he stays with Zodyl because heās able to provide Jabber with strong people to fight, and challenge him. We also know Zodyl has his own experience with abuse.
I have another part of my theory, that involves Zodyl and how Jabber came to be part of the raiders. I suspect that Zodyl may have recruited Jabber when he was fairly young, by grooming him using Jabberās past. (Not in a sexual way though)
We know Jabber most likely experiences misattribution of arousal, and building off my previous points we can imagine that Jabber might have been conditioned to view pain and fighting as something pleasurable and fun, like playing.
Zodyl may have recognized this in a younger jabber, and may have used it to gain control over Jabber when he was younger and more impressionable. If he had seen Jabber fight as a child, it may be the motivation for Zodyl recruiting Jabber.
I also have a theory about how poison and toxins might come into play in this scenario. Itās possible that if jabber was part of some sort of fighting or trafficking ring, and programming abuse was involved, itās likely that punishment was used to keep victims in line
I have a theory that while Jabber was in the fighting ring, or while he was being abused, they might have used poisons and toxins as a way of punishment. They may have also used different kinds of poisons for different types of punishment.
This may explain why Jabber doesnāt have exact names for the poisons he uses, and he names them based on what they do or how they feel. If he was subjected to abuse using poisons as a child, he probably began coming up with names for the different poisons or toxins To help him understand what was happening to him better, using the knowledge he had at the time. And on the subject of poison, I want to move on to my theory of how Jabber acquired mankira.
I have a theory that one of Jabberās abusers may have been in possession of Mankira, and used her to inflict punishment using poisons. I believe that similarly to Amo, Jabber may have snapped and killed his abuser, and taken mankira from them (which also explains the name)
Similarly to Amo, I think that Jabber may experience a form of āStockholm syndromeā. If he viewed pain and punishment as something fun and pleasurable, due to programming and the like, killing Jabberās abuser may have led him to experiencing some feelings of grief, loss, or Longing. If thatās the case, itās possible that Jabber kept Mankira because he became emotionally attached to her after losing the person that gave him those feelings of fun or pleasure. Basically keeping her out of a twisted sense of longing.
In full, my theory is that Jabber may have been sold or born into some sort of trafficking or fighting ring where he grew up. They implemented methods of abuse such as programming and torture using poison, which led to Jabber developing a fascination with poisons And masochistic tendencies. His abuser used mankira to inflict punishment using poison onto jabber, until one day Jabber snapped and ended up killing the abuser. He ended up keeping Mankira out of a sick sense of longing for his abuser. After a while, he was groomed by Zodyl into joining the raiderās, where Zodyl used the methods of Jabberās past abusers to keep him in check and feed into his tendency to seek out pain and punishment as a form of fun.
Thatās basically my theory about Jabbers backstory. Itās a lot, and itās not really orderly, but I kinda created this theory using research and my own experiences, and also because I just really love coming up with theories! Yeah, thatās it!
