See this is why I headcanon that Ken doesnt take over bens position as hero of heros after ben retires/dies.hes seen how much work it is, how much tome is spent away from family and i think he decides he doesnt want that life for him or his future family.
Like hes still a hero, just not the hero.

Devlin likely grew up wanting to prove to people he wasnt his father and kind of obsessed with being a hero.

Its really sweet how close ben and gwen are. Like gwen is bens closest person, his confidant, his bestest friend. And he called her , his childless cousin ( allegedly since we dont really see her children ) for parenting advice over Kai, the mother of his child.

Also I do think this is a shag carpet/ verdona reference. I beleive max got the disco ball and plays it while listening to shag carpet because it reminds of verdona and the good old days.

I do think kevin cares and loves devlin to some level. But seeing his son walking around as his nightmare and worst life experience must mess with his head so much.
Idk if this was done for aesthetic reasons or not, but Kevin's eyes are grey here, not his usual black/dark brown.
They say eyes are the window to the soul, and I think his grey eyes in place of his black ones represent kevins soul ie his humanity, his true self, being gone.
Any signs of the old kevin are gone and instead all that's left is this crazed monster.

Awww poor devlin. All he wanted was to have a family and he had some hope that if he helped kevin , hed love and be with devlin more.
I genuinely refuse to believe that this is the timeline that happens in omniverse.

I love gwevin, and they might have some on and off hook up situationship in this universe, but I like to believe gwen has some self respect to not completely forgive him and have an on and off marriage.
The stuff kevin has done, even if forgivable , cant be forgotten, especially since apparently this happens a lot.
A one time thing , okay sure we'll let slide, but the fact kevin goes crazy multiple times? Yeah no.
Kenny is definitely goin g to grow up a smarter hero than ben lol.
Like it was pretty smart of him to hack the watch as grey matter to unlock the master control, unlike ben who used a screw driver and taped the with chewing gum.
Also kenny is like younger than ben lol. Yeah by a couple of months only, but still younger.
I do think its super interesting how kevin can use his powers without actually transforming into an alien. Its like he got his own version of the master control.
Another headcanon of mine with this timeline is that devlin doesnt actually stay with kenny and ben for long.
Like gets enrolled into school and does really well, aces his classes n all. But the whole " that's kevin levins son" follows him everywhere.
He doesnt really have a lot of friends besides kenny and kennys friends.
He does try but he cant really break out of that shadow. Plus having grown up on Saturn and a bunch of other places , devlin gets a little bored of staying in one place.
I headcanon that gwen finds out about devlins issues and then becomes his legal guardian. Then she puts him into a home school sort of situation and takes him with her while she travels on missions and stuff.
They live in space along with her crew of gluto and 2-3 others. She's still pretty insistent on school but she also trains devlin in hand to hand combat training and so on.
Devlin loves the situation , hes learning but also gets to travel to new places , especially where no one can connect him to his father. And eventually he finds friends who dont care hes kevins son and gwen and the cre become his little found family.
Aww ben this was cute. Also I just know azmuth flew to earth and smacked ben in the head after he learned he built a knock off omnitrix.
And then complained the whole time as he tuned out the finer details for kenny.
Yeeeaahh ben out toepick to mess with kenny, cuz ain't no way he'd think kenny woukd want that.
Also where the heck ken for kennys party? The child is literally named after him, yet not even a cameo? A mention about a gift from uncle ken?
Why does this fact sound like kevin intentionally wanted to settle down and have a family?
Maybe he did. Maybe kevin did what to have a nice normal life and initially did while believed devlin didnt get any powers.
But then devlin transformed and kevin lost it.
Btw devlins mother couldn't have evil right? I mean the kid has a pretty good sense of right and wrong and isnt a crazy murderer, so she mustve been somewhat a good person to instill some goodness in him.
Or maybe she abandoned devlin or didnt care for him, which leads devlin to seek out his father in a desperate attempt for a family.
Even so, somebody did a good job of raising devlin.
