Vox should’ve caused catastrophic damage. Alastor’s reaction should’ve been explored differently. Everyone coming together to sing was fuckin insane. What is this My Little Pony? I can’t.

Regardless, I appreciate the Vox attention. I like the exploration. Though, I’m gonna write shit very differently.

I put a lot of thought into this AU, and I have finally caught up on season two! I have.. thoughts..

But, well if folks enjoy what I’ve made! Might as well continue! So, sure! I’ve got a few asks in my inbox, and I’ll get around to answering them!

I'm rather inspired by how well the idea of Vox being the hotel's benefactor makes so much more sense than Alastor, and I find that the entire thing could make sense timeline-wise. I plan to start the fic with an introduction to Vox's character and how he only chooses to attend Overlord meetings when he pleases (and of course, when not overly busy with his obsession with Alastor and managing his media territory). Also, their dynamics as the Vees (pre-season 1, but I think their dynamic during season 2 would still be applicable, only milder.) It would also be set after the Exterminations (which caused the entire Hazbin Hotel being pitched in by Charlie in the 666 News) and after Charlie's failed attempt to advertise the hotel. (This part would be set during the Pilot)

I'd still be deciding whether I'll make Lucifer's grand entrance earlier (due to Charlie stating in season 1 that she's already told Lucifer about the hotel, therefore indicating that they had contact and it's possible that Lucifer could've forgotten) or same as the original timeline of the show.

In the fic, I'm still working on how Alastor would enter the scene. An initial idea was to introduce his return to hell through a scene with him and Rosie where they discuss about the details of their deal. About how Rosie asks him to go off the air for a few years due to whatever reason she may have. Then Alastor hears of the hotel and he finds out it's the Princess of Hell herself running it (helplessly, according to his judgement of the poor display of desperation on the news.) He would plan on visiting the hotel or atleast keeping a close eye on it before acting, then coincidentally, a week after his return, Vox would be broadcasting the advertisement Alastor attempted to broadcast in the actual show, but with the brand of Voxtek. This would incite his and Alastor's broadcast vs TV showdown but only after Alastor makes himself known alive to Hell. And yep, despite spending more time on the hotel as benefactor, Vox still goes back to the Vee tower to manage Voxtek and deal with Valentino and Velvette. Valentino gets pissy, Velvette asks him to take care of the piss baby, then Vox finds out about Alastor returning. Major blackout occurs, but the difference is Charlie asking him to please be more civil and not start wars and blackouts with The Radio Demon, since it wouldn't be good for the hotel's reputation. Vox would try to argue but also playing into the charming, persuasive man persona and askibg that hey, maybe it would be better to add more sponsors to the hotel, that way it would be more known. He was slightly hinting about Alastor, because it would mean close proximity at the same time more chances to enact revenge after their last argument 7 years ago. What Vox didn't expect was Charlie having a different person in mind to drag into the whole hotel agenda. Oh, and before I forget, Vaggi remains untrusting since he's an Overlord, but not as badly with Alastor since Vox is charming enough to not cause trouble for himself and not as much of a trickster as Alastor was. So the person who Charlie decided would be a great sponsor for the hotel is none other than Lucifer. Yeyy!! So the story continues from there, I plan on adding the trope of Vox trying to charm Lucifer for the sake of power before realising that they may have quite a lot of similarities and Alastor wasn't as much of a big deal as before. Oh, and maybe Alastor is slightly jealous that Vox now has a different rival and it's the King of Hell himself who just so happens to be smaller than the portraits he's seen and literally their dynamic fromt he show but different reasonings. Further will be done if I get motivated to actually write it 🥹

In my Au, Valentino is entirely out of the picture. I don’t like rapists and they don’t deserve to live. So, he was either never there to begin with or Vox slaughtered him live on broadcast as a power move. Either way, no Val!

Instead, Angel sold his soul to Vox years ago. Whenever Vox manifested in the ‘50s. The reason? Protection. Angel is still a victim of sexual assault, and merely wants guaranteed protection. Vox agreed to provide that.

In turn, Angel is actually a famous actor within Purgatory! He’s known for various films, shows, and interviews! Angel has won various awards and is Vox’s main star! Fun fact: Vox actually was the one who gifted Angel his pet pig! It was at the first ever awards ceremony Angel attended, and it was also a ‘congratulations’ for his first ever award!

However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Cute thing about my Vox, he thrives off control. He loves controlling folks. Angel has been at Vox’s side for so long, that he’s slowly lost most of his self reliance. He genuinely believes he needs Vox to remain safe. He needs Vox to feel cared for. He needs Vox to stay successful. He genuinely believes Vox is his friend.

Vox, on the other hand, considers Angel what he is. His star. His charge. A soul under his ownership. Vox plays protector will all his stars! He showers them in gifts, gives them pay bonuses, and spoils them silly! (He’s low-key a sugar daddy). But, he’s very confidently controlling Angel. Monitors what he posts. Gives him key things to say during interviews. Forces Angel to attend every party he throws. Schedules everything Angel does career wise. Vox doesn’t feel remorse or guilt. It’s just who he is.

Now, there are affections there! Angel understands so much about Vox, how could there not be? Vox has some attachment towards Angel, and Angel adores Vox dearly. Vox would never physically hurt Angel, and never uses him in the ways Valentino is depicted as doing.

But, it’s more.. mentally toxic. And, that’s what I find so interesting about my Vox. He’s all about control. All about ownership. All about being on top.
