i hesitate to compare female characters in horror to laura palmer because her experience is so vastly different and goes beyond the realms of what horror can be. but watching obsession last night and really taking in the allegory of sa made me notice the similarities between nikki and laura, and the extremities of male sexuality. though laura’s experience with leland is more rooted in reality than nikki’s experience with bear, their autonomies are challenged in the same regard. the fact that twin peaks and obsession make you feel bad for the rapist until the last moment is not lost on me. loved this film and inde navarette, fem-centered horror is alive <3
