(repost from ig) Hey guys. Unfortunately I had to delete a lot of the ‘choice’ videos from ANJAIL CHAPTER 1 because they breach the spam community guidelines of youtube. I know that’s my bad, I assumed that unlisted videos didn’t count but apparently they do. I left the neutral ending route videos up, so the main story is still accessible but the routes to the goat ending, lobster ending, and the hungry liar ending had to be nuked. 

BUT DONT WORRY DONT WORRY this may be a blessing in disguise because now I actually have to learn how to code. Well, at least in renpy. I’m gonna try my best to port everything into an actual visual novel! Looks like I accidentally became a game dev!!!!!!! (fun fact i dropped out of compsci in my first semester) nah but seriously, I’ve been playing around with it and honestly i don’t think it’ll be as bad as I thought, since the interaction in chapter 1 was quite limited anyways. 

So what does this mean going forward for chapter 2 and beyond? Basically the fundamental structure would be the exact same: there will be a 8-10 minute animated video for the beginning of chapter 2, and then you’ll be prompted to download the visual novel to experience the rest of chapter 2 through the description. I’ll probably post it on itch.io. 

But before starting chapter 2 I’m going to first port chapter 1 to renpy. I’m not sure how long this will take, but considering I have already drawn all the assets, written the story, and mapped out the routes - hopefully not longer than 2-3 months (im writing this on valentines day) 

One thing that I want to make clear is that ALL CHAPTERS WILL BE FREEEE. Part of what I liked about having it all on youtube was the accessibility, so I definitely want to keep that aspect. 

I’m sorry for those that only got into Anjail because of the cool youtube interaction. Believe me, this is a hard decision but one that I have to make in order to keep the future of this project as safe as I can. I loved the fact that everyone was able to comment as the game went on, there was a huge community aspect! 

But, with making it a real visual novel you’ll be able to control the speed of the text (which was the main criticism that I got from chapter 1, text was zoomin too fast), there will be more dialogue options and overall it’ll be more interactive than it was on youtube!!

I’m sorry again, I hope you guys can understand and aren’t too disappointed. 

And how do you feel about custom merch of your characters in general wether it uses your art or not?

I made tarot inspired illustrations based on each ending!!!
