Farewell, creative Tumblrs with content considered bad for advertisers; your creativity and spirits will be missed. Down with the ship we go, dragged into the abyss by the machinations of those clearly too blind to see the full ramifications of their actions. It was fun while it lasted, but sadly all good things come to an end, and it seems that the world has deemed this be ours. Good luck, to all of you.
I get serious for a minute
Dear Tumblr CEO and relevant staff-
I know you donât give a fuck. I know your seat on the apple money throne is too high to hear the voices of your users, but here I go, shouting into the great void between us, into your grand safe space.
You make this lofty post of making a more inclusive and safe Tumblr, but all you do is attack people. you send your mindless bots after their blogs, you put them through days of hell, fighting for their craft, their livelihood, while your bots do nothing but attack innocent people, mes their timelines, flag their posts, delete their blogs, drive a wall between artists and their audience.Â
I do not feel your âsafe spaceâ, all I feel is the distress of those hundreds of people confused and worried over this event and their loss of ability to enjoy the content i have provided them for free.
I work hard every day because i believe in my craft, i want to offer people a little sliver of escape from their everyday troubles, maybe shed some faint light of hope into their lives, make the life those few moments it takes to read my comics a more tolerable experience. I have been through hell in my own life, comics have saved my life many times over, and here you are, making that altruistic effort to share my experience of hope and escapism substantially harder. Repeatedly flagging my art as offensive, making these mindless accusations on my character and my work. And I do not seem to understand your âideaâ of more positive experience. How is it more positive and inclusive to attack people bringing joy and entertainment to others? How does that great lofty goal is in any way advanced by your discriminatory practices?Â
You must take people to be complete idiots if you expect them not to see that this is all about you hungering some apple money. Greed, not inclusivity, Moral posturing, not safety. Safety is freedom to express yourself, safety is ability to share your artistic vision without fear of loss of your livelihood and audience because some guy somewhere decides on your behalf if you have right to be heard or seen.
Ideas, even bad ones need to be shared so they can be judged and evaluated on their own merit. Was it then breasts or pastries. Censorship is never the inclusive, safe, tolerant solution. Never.
All you are doing is paving way to another round of puritanical witch hunts. So do posture as some moral paragon, put on airs of inclusivity all you want, but donât bet on people being dumb enough to buy it when with one hand you go stabbing people in the back, while with other you are shaking hands with the devil in plain sight.
tl;dr Fuck you Tumblr, you ainât inclusive, you are literally driving away people and attacking them, thatâs the opposite of inclusive.
Now this is interesting
Article: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/a3mjxg/apple-tumblr-porn-nsfw-adult-content-banned
YES!! I LIKE THIS TAKE!!
Basically, because I know Mobile is bad with links, the article points out hat the broad, âsfw only, no titties allowedâ wave on the internet in recent years is largely due to Appleâs absolute stranglehold on the App Store. Apple has strict guidelines about NSFW content that choke creators right out of mainstream social media, even on sites like Reddit, for users of their products:Â
But there are fewer and fewer mainstream sites and services that support porn and adult content, and much of that attitude has grown out of Appleâs strict controls over the App Store and the iOS ecosystem. Steve Jobs famously suggested that âfolks who want porn can buy an Android phone,â and Apple has repeatedly leveraged its unprecedented power over millions of smartphones to sanitize the apps that are available on iPhones. Apple does not allow apps âthat contain user generated content that is frequently pornographic.â In 2016, Apple famously deleted all third-party Reddit apps that allowed users to toggle NSFW posts on and off; even now, it is impossible to access porn on an iOS Reddit app unless you jump through various hoops.
remember though that this anger isnât about Being Horny On Main, itâs about sex workers, their platforms and followers, NSFW creators and their art, and adult content communities that are continually being shoved out of spaces they created in recent years:Â
Tumblrâs leadership seems to believe that the community using Tumblr for adult content is the same as any other porn siteâshowing a serious disconnect with how its users actually interact and connect on its own platform. âWe will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community,â he wrote.
The value of Tumblr for NSFW creators and fans was in the autonomy to curate something original, and the freedom to express and share what theyâre intoâsomething that canât be replaced by algorithmically-suggested porn on the rest of the internet.
it was mentioned before somewhere else, but 20% of Tumblrâs traffic is brought in by content theyâre now flagging as âadultâÂ
This is yet another example of a platform ignoring adult content when it helps the platform flourish, and then leaving those users out to dry when itâs time to crack down for some monetary gain or face-saving. In addition to being a terrible way to treat your user base, banning adult content on Tumblr will stifle a lot of creativity.
and of course, Apple is also one of the companies that has repeatedly come under fire for censoring lgbtq/queer identities on their sites, the app store, and also caved to russiaâs anti-lgbtq policies like a stick of rotten bamboo
The communities that will feel this change the most will be the already-marginalized. âTumblr banning adult content is a huge loss for the LGBTQ community, especially those with overlapping marginalized identities,â Kitty Stryker, a queer porn performer and consent activist, told Motherboard in an email. âFor many, thatâs the one place we could find porn that represents us, made by indie performers who created their own content outside of an often racist, transmisogynist, fatphobic industry. Tumblr was where our content could exist without pushing us into the restrictions of a misogynist, male dominated workplace.â

REBLOG IF NAZIS OFFEND YOU MORE THAN NIPPLES.
We at Piczel.tv are sad to see Tumblrâs stance against NSFW artists, and would like to offer up our services as an alternative to Tumblrâs arbitrary shadowbans, deletions, and general stupidity.
Weâre happy to host adult artists who are looking for a new place to call home, and are planning a few key upgrades and features.Â
Effectively immediately though, our gallery upload size restriction has been removed, to be likely raised to 10MB in the near future for non-premium users. As always, we support image sets, and donât compress anything. Firstly, for those that have been using tumblr as a portfolio, youâll need a way to download all of your art, if you donât have backups somewhere else. We are planning a tool for Piczel.tv that will import zip files full of images, including titles and descriptions if we are able. Second, weâre planning the following upgrades to piczel in the coming weeks: 1. Bulk upload/import to your piczel.tv gallery 2. Gallery UI cleanup and improvements 3. Gallery performance improvements 4. Gallery comments with in line image and custom emote support 5. Site-wide PMs (in the vein of tumblr asks, but better) 6. Archive button for your piczel account Donât forget to follow us on twitter, we may be deleted on the 17th with everyone else. Until then, weâll make posts here to keep everyone in the loop Please consider reblogging this to help artists in need.
OwO whatâs this
Save The Blogs!
Okay, folks. So. Tumblrâs jumped the shark in a big way, and Iâm not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all âadultâ content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.
Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.
(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but thatâs another issue entirely.)
I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, itâs a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, itâs often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there. One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution Iâve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I donât anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any. Â
This tutorial I found worked really easily. http://quickguide (.) tumblr (.) com/post/39780378703/backing-up-your-tumblr-blog-to-wordpress
I put parenthesis around the .âs like weâre back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblrâs new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do. To break it down, just in case:
Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start Youâll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and youâre good to go. On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.
Then you have to give your site a URL. If youâre lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not youâll have to come up with another one, sorry.
It will tell you if that option is still available for free.
Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.
Now youâre set up! You can import your tumblr! The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.
Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for âother importersâ at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.
Then youâll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. Youâll be redirected there automatically. Youâll have to allow Wordpress permissions on your blog.
Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.
Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and youâre done!
ALSO!!
I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I donât know WPâs policy on NSFW.
This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they arenât wanted, so I donât personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access. To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick. tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps. Iâm going to tag the hell out of this, in no particular order. PLEASE reblog this and spread the word so people know itâs an option. If youâre having trouble, PM me, and Iâm happy to help.

A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, weâre proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, weâve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. Weâve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, weâre taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions). Â
Letâs first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with todayâs policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. Weâve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and weâve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So whatâs next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes wonât happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. Weâre relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but weâve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, weâre going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions weâre making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what itâs come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We wonât always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.
Jeff DâOnofrio CEO
Yeah, sorry @staff, but you clearly have no idea what youâre doing. In a matter of hours youâve killed the community you sought to âprotectâ and have done nothing more than show your hands as the idiots we hoped you werenât. People are leaving in droves, fleeing to other websites because the one place they felt safe is collapsing around them. I know Iâm all but leaving because everyone I follow is fleeing too.
This could have all been fixed had you applied a simple tweak to blogs, age restricting them or whatnot, but instead you decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Come Dec. 17 your service will be all but dead, an empty echo-chamber husk filled with vapid pettiness, dying in the same way Twitter is dying.
Youâre crying âwonât somebody please think of the children?!â but all we see is a handful of lazy, inept staff who, because their task to patrol their site is a large one, have decided to throw in the towel and just commit seppuku.Â
Quote: â It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community.â Well, well done; youâve killed that community, no-one can self-discover anything if every thought that doesnât align to yours is driven away, and those with creative expression have fled the mass purge.
TL;DR, you have killed Tumblr and itâs your own fault.
HEY GUYS CHECK THIS OUT
So if a porn bot reblogs and puts a link to your selfies you can do this
SO IF A PORN BOT PUTS A LINK TO A PORN SITE/VIRUS YOU CAN FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO HAVE IT REMOVED. ALSO IF ANY REMOVES THE ORIGINAL CAPTION OF YOUR POST TO BOOST THEIR BLOG YOU CAN REPORT THEM (AND GET THEM REMOVED) TOO.
YOU CAN ALSO FILE A DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) AGAINST THEM TOO. http://tumblr.com/dmcaÂ
WHY DOESNâT THIS HAVE MORE NOTES?

Boosting because I didnât know this was a thing!
(I wasnât aware this was something a person could do, to quote King George in Hamilton. Itâs a useful tip that I hope none of you ever need to use.)
If youâre European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Hereâs why.
On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the âLink Taxâ and the âCensorship Machinesâ articles.
Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you wonât be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because itâs all copyrighted material. And you wonât also be able to share, enjoy or download otherâs contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.
But not everythingâs lost yet. Thereâs another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.
What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.
Here you can find more news and all the details to contact your MEP:

Also, sign and share this petition:

We have just a couple of weeks to stop this complete madness, donât let them dictating the way we enjoy our internet.
#SaveYourInternet now!
Itâs funny how y'all will reblog any and all US things but when whole Europe might lose access to internet then everything is quiet.
I ainât in the EU, or the US, but fuckinâ oath I wish people would stop trying to chokehold the internet.
Stalwart Drone, an OC of mine from a story I'm working on here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/134115/bat-and-bug
Recently I got a new wacom tablet, and I've been dying to put it to use, but have been unable to work through some artists' block. This, however, managed to squeeze through the cracks. Back from a story I was writing long ago 'Children' (which is undergoing a severe rewrite) Hasani and Misala were the children of the Highborn ambassadors sent to negotiate with humanity. An attack on their colony ship injures the older brother, Hasani, while he tries to protect his younger sister Misala. He is fifteen and she is nine. She's also Crest, a rare female-only breed of their species that develop to be larger and stronger than their counterparts. Until the range of 18-21 he will stay purple and she will remain yellow, at which stage they'll transition to a dusty tan colour. I had a bunch of fun revisiting this, even though I didn't shade it.

Scammer Targeting Tumblr Artists
The title says it all really. So if nothing else, please share and reblog this post to raise awareness for those that might be caught out - both artists and followers. For a TL:DR, please look at the bottom of the post
What is happening?
Right now, there is at least one person actively impersonating multiple artists across tumblr in an effort to scam their followers into paying for fake âcheap commissionsâ. The scammer will clone a tumblr, usually using a slight change to the url/account name to look like the real deal. They will then message people directly through Tumblr with messages along the lines of âHey, iâm doing cheap commissions right now. DM me to get oneâ. Naturally, this is ends up just being a way to take their money without giving anything back in return.
Who does this affect?
Everyone. Simple as that. As long as the scammer in question works unopposed, they are free to spread their influence and continue to scam more people. Even if you havenât been targeted yet, it does not mean you are safe or immune. Several artists have already fallen victim to this scammer, and I encourage any artists that have to reblog this post with the details of their affected account(s) and the ones the scammer has set up.
How can we stop this?
Tumblr, like many other social media platforms, seems to care very little about âminorâ occurences like this one, and despite reaching out directly to them over a week ago through multiple avenues of contact - they have refused to comment on the situation, provide a recommended response for users, or take action on behalf of those already affected. Despite this, there are still tools at our disposal that we can use to make this scam more difficult, and to increase its visibility to those within Tumblr staff that are required by policy to take action. Tumblr has the following to say on the topic of impersonation: Confusion or Impersonation. Donât do things that would cause confusion between you or your blog and a person or company, like registering a deliberately confusing URL. Donât impersonate anyone. While youâre free to ridicule, parody, or marvel at the alien beauty of Benedict Cumberbatch, you canât pretend to actually be Benedict Cumberbatch. They then provide a link to this online form that you can fill out if you suspect someoneâs identity is being confused. Unfortunately, this can only be filled out if you are the victim of impersonation. In other words, only the artists can fill this out legitimately. So, what about the followers and users of tumblr whom arenât being impersonated? Our most valuable tool in this online platform is the platform itself. It enables us to spread our word near-virally across all the many sub-communities on Tumblr with remarkable efficiency for a user-driven system. We can take advantage of that effect to increase awareness of the situation. Even if you - the one reading this right now - arenât an artist or donât know an artist, the act of reblogging this post or sharing it directly with friends improves itâs ârankingâ in popularity increasing its chances to be seen by more people. We donât need everyone on Tumblr to see the post for it to be effective, just like we donât need the entirety of the human population of the world to be immune to a disease for that disease to be rendered ineffective or eradicated. If enough people are aware, the likelihood of pulling off a successful scam increases dramatically reducing efficiency to a point that it no longer becomes profitable to continue.
Why should I care?
It disheartens me to say this, but of the many artists I contacted directly over the past week to warn about this issue many of them refused to listen or dodged the responsibility with lines like;
âIâm not being impersonated, so it doesnât affect meâ
âIâm just one person. I canât make an impactâ
âI need to take care of my community. Other people can look after theirsâ
This is honestly disappointing that so many artists or art-rebloggers care so little as to intentionally wave the responsibility of keeping their followers and fellow artists safe from this, that they cannot spare 10 seconds of their time to share an informative post. Iâm not here to bash artists, but it is time that everyone takes responsibility for their own communities, and of those around them. Artists: You have a responsibility to ensure that your followers and fans arenât being abused by someone who may impersonate you. If they succeed, your reputation will be damaged, and your followers will resent you. Your followers are also almost guaranteed to be following other artists meaning your efforts can spread beyond your own circle of influence, so donât be naive when you think you have little effect. Followers: You have just as much responsibility to be aware of those that might try to scam you or your fellow followers. Donât just sit in silence when you see something wrong: Ignoring the issue only makes it more resilient to our efforts to stop it. You are the vocal majority if you just use your voices to be heard!
TL:DR
A scammer is impersonating artists and scamming money from their followers under the guise of 'cheap commissionsâ. If we ignore the issue, it will get worse. Every single person that reads this can afford to spend just 10 seconds to reblog and share this post. Those 10 seconds can save others from being scammed for hundreds of dollars. Reblog & Share
Might as well be on the safe side
If youâre getting out of the blue messages from âmeâ that ainât me, I donât think Iâve sent anyone a message that wasnât in response to something they said first in at least a year
Stay smart yall
Yeah this probably wonât affect me, but just FYI, i donât offer commissions, and if i did they would not be cheap.
But please verify who youâre talking to anyway if theyâre offering you something that sounds really good if itâs someone you donât regularly converse with, itâs just a good practice in general!
Far out has it been too long since I actually drew something, and this took me too damned long to complete. My rustiness with a tablet is astounding...
