“  my  prince  !  ”  venus  comes  rushing  in  to  help.  there  is  NO  TIME  TO  LOSE,  but  it  seems  the  battle  has  been  already  dealt  with.  she  feels  a  great  relief  to  see  him  safe.  there  is  an  undying  need  to  protect  her  loved  ones.  

after  all,  they  were  the  only  family  she  truly  had.  “  i’m  so  glad  to  see  you  are  alright.  i’m  sorry  i  am  so  late.  the  others  —  they  went  to  help  the  princess  ..  and  have  confirmed  she  is  alright  with  chibi  moon  !  do  you  need  a  hand  ?  ”

“ thank you , sailor venus , but i’m okay. ” well , okay is a relative term. he may have a couple bruised ribs and there’s a throbbing in his ankle. but the fight is over , and the people who matter most are safe. that’s what matters. he smiles kindly up at minako , grateful for the update. more grateful than he can put into words. 

        his head is rested atop of hers , vision slightly obscured by an odango. he has been in america for nearly a year , but it’s only now that he feels like he is home. mamoru closes his eyes , taking a deep breath. treasuring this moment of togetherness. and even if the logical part of him knows that she’s here now for a while , his heart can’t quite stop itself from aching. anticipating a loss of closeness. at usagi’s words , warmth washes over him. a wave of love catching him off guard. she had a way of doing that. he could take her in his arms right now , hold her against him and never let go. instead , he smiles softly , tears she cannot see glistening in his eyes as he places a kiss on the top of her head. just behind that dang odango.
