I haven’t watched the video yet, but wow. That really shows the difference that heat makes on this project, rather than UV.
For followers that don’t follow my other doll-nerd friends, the group has been discussing how to de-yellow vintage dolls. John (oak23, dolljunk) has been working on vintage Takara dolls, and Chris (dolldirt) posted his progress with a vintage Allan head.
Orie San’s before and after, and compared to when John first got her
gen 1.5 Licca’s progress (the last 2 pics are the retrobrite’s change), and project notes
Chris’s vintage Allen
He corrects himself later and says it’s not 40% peroxide, it’s 40 vol, which is 12%.
last year i retrobrited a vintage barbie fashion queen head using the “clear developer on the stove” method, if anybody wants to see how that works [post 1] [post 2] (in the future i’d probably suspend a doll in the bath so nothing would touch the bottom of the pot; it did make her hair paint come off a little)
