5 SECOND REVIEW
* i read this in two sittings, and it was one of those books i could not put down at all, and a book that instantly shot into my all time favourites
* incredibly well researched, with a lot of heart poured into it, it details the tragic events in April 1986 with immense detail, but it a way that is neither clinical, nor boring, nor too technical
* set up in a way that slowly unfolds, it keeps you glued, despite knowing what ultimately happens, and it masterfully explores the political, social and economic realities in the Soviet Union, that, more than operator error, were the true reasons for Reactor 4 exploding on that fateful night
* it left me with an immense feeling of sadness, for all the lives lost and the blame attributed to people who only acted in accordance with what they knew
* easiest 5/5 ⭐️ i've given this year
