melnchly:
esme had not chosen her own turning. and while she does not resent carlisle for life given back to her when she had let it go, some days she wonders if it is a life she would have chosen. (perhaps if she had been told she would find love with carlisle, that they would build this family, she thinks that she would. she knows she’d choose it now even if she hadn’t then.) she does not quite know how to handle the question of bella wishing to turn and yet worrying over it, too. “terrible things can always happen,” she says. and if the words are not comforting, at least her voice is soothing. “even after you turn. but in all the time i’ve been alive, despite everything, i know they are rare enough that worrying about them does no one any good. you’re young, bella. and you will still be young, when the time comes. someday, you’ll miss parts of being human, no matter how happy you are. don’t let the time you have left be marred by worry.”
bella can already imagine the things she’ll miss. birthdays, even if getting older has stopped seeming attractive - time meaning much of anything - charlie and mom, someday - her friends. but...there’s something worse about the absence of missing that. something worse about knowing that if things don’t change she’ll someday be little more than a distant memory; that her life will be snuffed out and eventually the faint smoke she’ll leave behind will dissipate. bella frowns and looks at her hands rather than at esme. “they don’t seem that rare, lately.”

my first post: a goddess
tragicher:
▌█ ∵ ♥ ∵ █ ▌Sensationalization was something she knew all too well. The Parade and the festival were sensationalized beyond belief. Most people came to see what it was like, try and sneak a peek, reminders of what not to do and growing up there were always stories about those who dared to peek. You shouldn’t look or you will disappear like Angela Fathers or the soft whispers about the people who spoke about the Whistler. She could sympathize with how it must have felt to have people do that. ❝ I am so sorry to hear about that or bring it up. I genuinely had no idea. ❞ Mallory’s words are honest giving her an understanding look before she listened more intently. Every once in awhile providing a nod to show she was still engaged in what Bella was talking about. The audience she spoke for and of did a lot of the things Bella was outlining. Drawing lines connecting dots they thought they saw. Sometimes it could be disrespectful but sometimes it helped where police or other people would overlook things and in more recent years had helped solve a lot of cold cases. While she understood the slight annoyance of it, she did have a lot of respect for the people who did things like that.❝ That is true, I know a lot of our listeners participate in forums online to help look into things like that. They send them to us frequently to either look into or if they have suspicious things like Forks does for us to look into. I think the biggest reason they pointed myself and the others in this direction is because of what happened with your family friend. ❞ Mallory hesitates for a moment looking at her notes. She had more information, personal things that her listeners had sent her and that she had found online but she was trying to be respectful of the earlier wishes. ❝ Other issues were brought to my attention that also seem to circulate around you. A lot of people think that certain people in certain places can cause a string of events, or influence larger groups of people that can cause a retaliation, especially in small towns. We have ours we have a magician who robs us blind three times a year.❞ A small laugh and shake of her head. It sounds so stupid, and like a total lie but they had covered it in an episode already and it was very real. She was just leaving out what happened to the people that the magician took. ❝ Do you think that you arriving around the time these rumors started is why people pointed me to you? I can’t imagine how obnoxious that question might be I’m sorry. ❞
“it’s alright. i mean - it happens, you know? people don’t like thinking that horrible, tragic stuff can happen for no good reason - i think that’s why they try to tie it together, connect the dots, and make it, uh...mean something, but the truth is...you know. bad stuff happens at random.” it wasn’t at random. waylon, and that couple in the car - it had been victoria. it had been her gunning after bella. it’s the sort of guilt that weighs on her, still, even if she rationally knows that those actions weren’t her doing. people got hurt because of bella - because bella existed and was around who she was around, and...she fiddles with her hair in thought. it’s a tough question because it’s not wrong - mallory is unfortunately close to the truth. it had really all started with james targeting her, then victoria, then the volturi, and now; well. now she’s different. amber eyes flicker from the mug to mallory and back again before shoulders rise and fall in a shrug. “i guess it could be, but that, uh. that veers pretty sharply into, like, butterfly effect sort of things? like. i guess my moving here could have...changed the course of things, but so could what someone ate for breakfast, or them taking a different path to work, or...you know what i mean? there’s uh, infinite variables.”
SENTENCE MEME ⟶ CHARMED ( 1998 ) / 1.02 –– 1.03 always feel free to tweak the sentence to fit your muse.
“I’m gonna kill him.”
“He’s about to come over and ask if he could buy me a martini.”
“I just solved the age-old problem about who approaches whom first.”
“I told myself things would be different.”
“Our powers are not toys.”
“It was just a lousy premonition, that’s all.”
“You guys can’t control your powers any better than I can.”
“Nothing happened last night, at least nothing I’m ashamed of.”
“They can’t just be disappearing into thin air.”
“I’ll always take a compliment from a gorgeous woman.”
“Is that guy at the bar staring at me?”
“A lot of guys at the bar are staring at you.”
“I still don’t know why he’s interested.”
“Unless shattering his male ego counts for something.”
“I tend to be on the persistent side.”
“It’s incredibly unfair of you to eavesdrop on a private call and then misjudge me, based entirely on what you thought you heard.”
“You never had sex on the first date?”
“I just think we need to be extra careful.”
“Something just does not feel right to me about this.”
“You’re never afraid of anything.”
“Suddenly we wake up one day and everything is different.”
“I just want to be normal again.”
“You are the sweetest, most caring person I have ever met.”
“You’re always there to help anybody, even strangers.”
“If anyone should be concerned with being bad, it’s me.”
“You’ve got nothing to be afraid of.”
“I just don’t think I should get involved in anything right now.”
“We had sex, that doesn’t mean we have to elope.”
“Why don’t we pretend like it never happened?”
“I think she’s the luckiest woman alive.”
“Did she actually admit to doing something wrong?”
“Some of us are having a really bad hair day.”
“Let’s turn back now before it’s too late.”
“It’s never too late for a party.”
“I just want my head on a pillow because I have to wake up early.”
“We’re working on their subtlety.”
“No dog I know can open a front door, let alone reach a top shelf.”
“Either we could rely on our vicious guard cat to protect us, or we could remember to lock doors.”
“I was told that you might be able to help me.’
“I would never leave my responsibilities and my family.”
“I can see we have some issues to work through.”
“Now get out, before I have you thrown out.”
“Don’t you find it just a little suspicious?”
“I’m sorry to just show up like this.”
“People confuse us all the time.”
“I should be slapped and persecuted.”
“You’ll never believe who popped back into my life after 20 years.”
“He wants to have dinner and I would really rather avoid that.”
“He’s acting like no time passed, like I’m still his little girl, but I’m not.”
“He needs to know that that’s not okay.”
“I didn’t come back earlier because I was afraid I might disappoint you.”
“It’s kind of a relief to talk to someone about it?”
“Does anybody want coffee?”
“Am I the only one who sees what’s going on here?”
“You’re just looking for something to blame him for.”
“For the first time in your life, tell them the truth.”
“No one can hurt us as bad as you.”
“If you wanted me to leave, all you had to do was ask.”
“We could’ve just, you know, talked it out like normal people.”
“I was wondering when evil would rear its ugly head.”
“I don’t know the kind of people you’re used to dealing with, but I’d lay serious coin that they aren’t willing to rip you into a thousand pieces and dance on your entrails.”
“I don’t want to talk to you anymore.”
“Just do it, because I want to go out with a bang.”
“I no longer have a romanticized image of him.”
“At least he’s not a monster, which is very reassuring considering we share his genes.”
“I’m just glad he came back, no matter how long he stays.”
“Kind of nice feeling like a normal family again.”
“It’s probably best if we let the dust settle anyway.”
vampires always like “i could kill you if I wanted” like? yeah? so could another human being. so could a dog. so could a dedicated duck. you arent special
I’m so relieved to find out this is still as funny today as it was at 3am immediately before I passed out

i refuse not-clumsy vampire bella. she’s still a klutz but now when she falls over she puts dents in the floors and walls.
constance, who was always dancing, seemed now unwilling to move; she sat on at the kitchen table with her hands spread before her, not looking around at the destruction, and almost dreaming, as though she never believed that she had wakened this morning at all. // independent constance blackwood of shirley jackson’s we have always lived in the castle. written by bee.
olpheist:
he snorts at the answer she’s given ; he can read it on her face that she’s lying and he doesn’t need to read a mind to know this. fingertips fidget as they comb through chestnut locks upon his head before he diverges himself from the path their on to climb up solid oak dusted with snow and green shrub. it’s off course, yet he climbs until he’s reached limb sturdy enough for weight and settles core there, patting spot beside him as gaze peers down toward bella.
‘ come on, it’s nice up here. ‘
he mutters enough for her to hear, awaiting, and there’s a softness in his gaze that’s saying let’s talk about this because he can tell she’s apprehensive about her fathers wearying state of age and he can read that just needs to be told that it’s alright to grieve sometimes. it’s alright to feel sad when you outlive everyone you will ever love in time.
an unimpressed look is cast upward as he climbs a tree with sudden determination - it isn’t unusual for them to climb and leap from branch to branch, but bella hadn’t been expecting the detour. still, she huffs a sigh that she knows he can hear, breath puffing white from her lips, and makes to follow him up the chilled bark. it feels like a different world up in the canopy, far above the ground below and the people on it. it feels like room to breathe, even if she doesn’t need to anymore. nothing but the sky stretching out above and around her.
she settles on the branch beside him and nudges him with a shoulder. what to say is beyond her. they all know that the world will keep moving - they all know it better than her. it happens. people grow older. they die. bella looks at her fingernails and shrugs in lieu of words.
olpheist:
thick snow hangs through forested groves, soft green peaks upon their entry into the woodlands, yet it’s quick to be dusted white concoctions as he steps closer to splotches of forest shades. ashen hues shift toward the unusually quiet brunette adopted sister, lips quirk into a grin as he bumps his shoulder into hers.
‘ you’re quiet. —- what’s wrong ? ‘
he hums softly, calloused digits shoved into pockets of jet colored jacket snugged onto his shoulders as if it would affect his body heat. endless cold endeavors cast into veins from venom clinging him to life eternally. hand moves from one pocket to snake toward her shoulder, lightly nudging her to the side and chuckling softly. / @praecido
there’s something nicer about the forest in the winter. the way the snow quiets footsteps and casts a sort of hush over everything, leaving space in bella’s head to think. she’s got it under control, mostly, but sometimes the rush of sounds that ricochets in her skull is enough to make her teeth ache. head tilts and she nudges him back. “i’m always quiet,” that’s a lie, but it gives her a minute to think.
hands come up to tug the knitted hat she’s wearing over her ears, the memory of the feeling of cold nipping at them haunting her. “just - charlie. his knee is bothering him and i just. think about it, you know?” it is the fact that, one day, he’ll be gone - and she’ll still be here. it’s the price of being what they are and bella knew that going in, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt to think about it.
i straight up forgot that renesemee’s middle name is carlie.

Ferris rarely let people come to the house, but she didn’t plan on letting Bella inside so she figured as long as her mother remained inside and comfortable, it’d be alright. Everyone in Forks already knew where she lived and she had cleaned up the egg from the garage door, but it was still evident the Fink home was not a favorite. Aside from being on the lesser side of town, the windows were boarded up with graffiti and the mailbox was permanently crooked from baseball bats and driveby baseball. Ferris wasn’t ashamed of her home, however, she had rarely known different. It used to bother her; maybe seeing her house would give Bella an insight to what Ferris dealt with– why she was so hesitant to warm up to people.
Standing from the table, Ferris met Bella by the driveway; arms full of decorations. “It’s nothing really,” Ferris assured with a haphazard shrug, “We made more decorations this year so– I kinda needed the help and… it’d be nice to get to know you a little more, I guess.” Looking at the boxes in her arms, Ferris shifted her feet and looked at the house briefly before quickly turning to Bella. “I hope you don’t mind a little hike. The tree I have in mind is about forty minutes hike from here. Not uphill though and I have cocoa for after.” She glanced at two thermoses attached to her backpack before standing awkwardly a moment. “Okay, let’s go,” she sighed turning and heading to forest across the yard. “Is this your first Christmas with Charlie?”
she has driven past this house before, knows vaguely that it’s ferris’ home, that it’s pretty constantly tormented by shitty locals. charlie has told her the basics of ferris, when bella got to forks and was greeted by some people at school with surprise - you’re more normal than i thought you would be - that she isn’t as...odd as ferris ( that’s not the terms they used, but bella would feel bad even thinking of someone as a freak, so. ). “here, let me take some of those,” she reaches for one of the boxes, “you, uh - i can take one. i’d like to get to know you, too,” she flashes a smile and tucks a loose strand of hair behind the shell of a cold ear.
“i like hikes, so - you’re in luck.” bella follows along a few footsteps behind ferris, trekking across the yard and towards the ever-present treeline that seems to circle around forks. “oh, uh - the first one i really remember, yeah. i came for a few when i was real little, when my grandparents were still around, but i don’t really...have many, like, actual memories of that.”
constance, who was always dancing, seemed now unwilling to move; she sat on at the kitchen table with her hands spread before her, not looking around at the destruction, and almost dreaming, as though she never believed that she had wakened this morning at all. // independent constance blackwood of shirley jackson’s we have always lived in the castle. written by bee.
