a remake of code veronica would be bad b/c
they already tried it once & looK AT WHAT THEY DID! dsc was atrocious. farming the audience for sympathy for the guy who was so in love w/ his great-great-great-great grandmother he unethically cloned her & then locked away his children so he could have his daughter all to himself. turning steve into a boss fight. making the nosferatu fight worse... somehow... making alexia do a baby voice b/c sHe WaS iN a CoMa SiNcE cHiLdHoOd-- shut up! shut up! she was a genius. she was raised in a decrepit, aristocratic family, she was mature long before she went in & shut up! she wouldn't!! & i'll never forgive them for having her kill alfred... how, DARE you. she loved that absolute freak of a brother of hers. he waited until the brink of death before waking her up b/c he understood how important it was & how detrimental to HER health it could be if she woke up too early.
i don't want these characters to be stripped of their strange, antiquated fashion & way of speaking. they are supposed to feel anachronistic. they were made w/ the mummy juice of a women who has been dead for 200 yr.s they were born in the 70s & locked away from society. they don't know how to keep up w/ the times & they wouldn't want to! i don't want to see alexia wearing modern high fashion.
they are going to take out the most crucial parts of the characters: the incest & the cross-dressing. their is rumors floating around they are going to COMPLETELY REMOVE alfred cross-dressing as alexia
that will NOT be alfred. that will be an entirely new character. i've spent over a decade dealing w/ woefully misinformed people thinking alfred is trans ( he isn't & if he was, it would be trans masc as he would've been born afab...fucking, that's how cloning works, idk how else to simplify it ) or that he was fully aware & doing it as a fetish.
he didn't know he was doing it b/c HE wasn't. it was the part of his brain keeping alexia alive as a coping mechanism who was wearing the outfit & speaking to a mirror so alfred could physically see alexia talking to him.
in the novel, he also has hallucinations of her following him around, which i adhere to, but that's beside the point.
i know a remake is going to go that route & have alexia just be a hallucination or like, just a film on a screen he talks to, or maybe a mannequin he has dressed up-- but that's not the same thing. that is comfort. his mind fracturing to recreate her using his own body, as a reflection of her, is cope! comfort is healing, cope is avoidance. there is a big difference. he wasn't slowly accepting alexia was gone b/c he knew she wasn't, he just didn't know how to exist w/o her around to tell him what needed to be done.
i fear there will be a remake & even if they get some things right, & i will be there as emotional support should the love of my life decide to play it ( it's in our vows... sickness & health & bad remakes ) but it will NOT be canon to this blog.
