Now you may know, that german uses a formal and an informal "you" and it's always interesting how they use that in dubbing.

For episode 3 Scott and Kip used the formal you until the "I'm too lazy to be a serial killer" talk and switch to the informal you when Scott invites him to the game. Makes total sense, and I'm glad that that invite wasn't with the formal you.

HOWEVER

During the gala scene, when Kip is there as Elena's plus one and Scott tell them they look nice SCOTT SLIPS BACK INTO THE FORMAL YOU WHEN TELLING KIP HE LOOKS GOOD.

Ilya and Shane are the favourite fun uncles to all their nieces and nephews. The “fun” part includes Shane letting the children in his cottage, where they can swim around and play in the lake for hours. Ilya is also in the lake with the kids, sometimes pretending he has been attacked by a shark, other times doing handstands in the water.

Ilya is kinda glad that he doesn’t have to learn how to change a baby’s diaper, and that he can hand the child back to their parents when they get too fussy.

Shane is just relieved that he doesn’t have to join Hayden in this life, which he refers to as “a nightmare”. Because Shane has, first hand, seen Jackie trying to find nannies and all other sort of help for the Pike Kids. And no, Shane is not interested in any of that, thank you very much.

Although Ilya was mostly in Boston for all those years, he still used to go back to Russia during summers to take care of his dying father. And even in Boston he used to always be on the phone, trying to arrange caretakers and getting medicines for Grigori. That all combined with his depression didn’t exactly let Ilya enjoy his life that much. But now, in Ottawa he has a lovely husband, and a really wonderful group of friends. And he would like to keep it that way, so he doesn’t see a need to add kids to the mix.

Shane is secretly glad that he will always be the most important person in Ilya’s life. He was always a little worried that having kids would mean Ilya would keep him as the second priority. Because for Shane, Ilya will always be his first priority. Ilya is Shane’s baby, argue with the wall.

Coincidentally, Wyatt and Lisa are also childfree, and Hollanov go on double dates with them whenever Lisa have the time. Sometimes it’s both Wyatt and Ilya’s duty to take Centaurs kids to watch a new Marvel movie.

Yuna and David sometimes ask for grandchildren, and Shane just points at Anya.

Shane and Ilya absolutely love coaching at the camps and shaping young minds. Ilya immediately takes any new rookie in the team under his wing, just like he did with Haas.

Sometimes Shane goes for hiking and camping, meanwhile Ilya goes out partying with Svetlana without having to worry about kids.

they met at some sort of fundraiser or event and she strikes up a conversation with him, and at the end of the night she oh so subtly asks if he wants to grab dinner (food at tthe event sucked) to finish their conversation about the technical differences between mens and womens professional hockey, an offer shane takes very literally because he's very invested now and actually enjoying this conversation, and at the time has very firmly drawn the line in his head that there is absolutely nothing possibly romantic about hockey.

when her teammates ask her how the night went the victorie player is like "he was really nice, listened intently to everything i had to say, laughed at my jokes, paid for dinner, didn't tell me about how much more difficult mens hockey is. he treated me like the best conversation partner he's had in a while. he's gay. he just doesn't know it yet."

it becomes a thing that anytime the montreal mens and womens teams are at an event together, all the women love talking to shane, and his teammates (who don't know about the not-date because he's never mentioned it) tease him about how he's such a ladies man and he should ask one of them out, they'd definitely say yes. meanwhile the victories all like him because he's actively not hitting on them or talking over them and he really just wants to talk about hockey.

like they're so used to every conversation with an nhl player ending his him disrespecting the pwhl in some way and acting like they should be impressed he's a professional athlete (like they aren't professional athletes too!!) meanwhile shane starts conversations with "so i watched the documentary you recommended on the first womens olympic hockey team and-"

My evidence:

Borusa is a politician, and clearly he adopted Theta Sigma as a protege for some length of time. Him steering Theta towards the law makes sense… in a way.

General point, but: the Doctor’s prime weapon, all of his lives, is TALKING. He fights by ARGUING CASES. He’s also very willing to learn and cite Rules if he can use them to his advantage.

One turns the very first serial into a prehistoric courtroom drama, for crying out loud. He’s also very prepared to take on Ian’s legal defense in Marinus.

In The Two Doctors, Two’s history with Dastari strongly suggests that Theta Sigma did diplomatic work for Gallifrey.

Three says that back in the day he got the High Council to ban Miniscopes by “making a nuisance of himself” about it. While this is, of course, natural Doctor behavior, in a Gallifreyan context it also sounds like it could be a court case, yes?

(I feel like Three also has other Gallifreyan anecdotes that suggest he went on diplomatic missions and such, but I’m not sure about that.)

Four clearly knows a lot of Gallifreyan law in Deadly Assassin and Invasion of Time, and we know he had no prep time for DA, at least! Which means he already knew enough to have the loopholes and election law minutiae on hand for unrelated reasons…

(Side note: the idea that Borusa tried fruitlessly to get him into politics and then his mentoring came back to bite him with All Of Four’s Nonsense is GREAT, and delights me.)

In Trial, of course, not only is the Doctor his own legal team, but the (apparent) future!evil!Doctor’s entire identity is “prosecuting lawyer.”

…I think there might be more, but that’s what’s coming to mind right now. (New Who evidence is harder, partly because the Doctor now has so much Time War history with Gallifrey–and the War seems to have changed Gallifrey so much!–that it’s hard to point to anything like this and say “that’s Theta Sigma Stuff” with any confidence.)

One thing that always fascinates me is the ways in which their time at MI6 probably differed a lot from Alex's. Thinking specifically about this quote from Stormbreaker:

Blunt had forced him into this. In the end, the big difference between him and James Bond wasn't a question of age. It was a question of loyalty. In the old days, spies had done what they'd done because they loved their country, because they believed in what they were doing. But he'd never been given a choice. Nowadays, spies weren't employed. They were used. (Stormbreaker, p. 230)

Alex thinks he's not like James Bond because he was forced into it and wasn't actually employed. Meanwhile Ian is described at his funeral as a patriot, as was John by Ash. I've seen people suggesting Ian was also manipulated by Blunt/MI6, but I've always found it more compelling that John and Ian genuinely joined MI6 out of their free will, because they enjoyed the job and perhaps because even because they wanted to serve their country. Alex thinks Ian wasn't much one for waving the union jack, so maybe the whole 'patriot' and 'good man' thing is just propaganda/the story told after they died, and I suppose that might go for this quote too:

"It was your father's idea," Mrs Jones went on. "He also knew Sir Graham. He wanted to help. You have to understand, Alex, that's the sort of man he was. One day I want to tell you all about him—not just this. He believed passionately in what he was doing. Serving his country. I know that sounds naive and old-fashioned. But he was a soldier through and through. And he believed in good and evil. I don't know how else to put it. He wanted to make the world a better place." (Scorpia, p. 350)

But I do enjoy the idea of John and Ian's motivations being in a sense incomprehensible to Alex at this stage. Why on earth would anyone voluntarily work for MI6? But John and Ian would have joined as adults, in another time, and their experience with MI6 is completely different because of it. They were trained, likely respected for their skills, paid — and I don't think Alex quite experiences how it could have been until he's sent back in in Scorpia and he's promised actual back-up and a way to signal an extraction and that's the closest they come to treating him like a proper agent, like his father and uncle would have been.
