nobody talks about how exhausting it is to live in that space between "things will get better" and "i can't handle this anymore." it's like your emotions are constantly swinging. leaving you both hopeful and defeated in the same day.

Drift was an Autobot for 0.00005% of the war

Returning to this post to say that according to the IDW continuity timeline, Drift left the Decepticons and was Neutral for 10,396 years before becoming an Autobot. Also, Drift never underwent the Rite of the Autobrand - instead his apparently-revokable status as an Autobot is directly tied to the vaguely named “Reintegration Act”, of which he is the sole benefactor. Which is to say he probably cut a deal with the Autobots and whether or not he is actually an Autobot is debatable.

These are large numbers; do they actually mean anything? A human can change a lot in a few years; I’ve done a 360 in like 8 years alone on beliefs and behaviour. Drift had 10,000 years to become someone else. Unless Cybertronians are slower to mature and change?

The stereotype of the nerd girl taking her glasses off and suddenly she's beautiful, but in reverse. A cold tough mean office lady who glares at everyone until she gets glasses and suddenly becomes sweet, approachable and friendly since she no longer has a constant headache over not being able to fucking see, doesn't need to squint at everything, and actually remembers individual people by name now that she can tell them apart at all.
