The City States of Europe via big think
Continuing in the theme of a few previous posts- Lake Bled in Slovenia and Lake Mývatn in Iceland- ‘Dune 45′ in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib Desert in Namibia leaves memories that seem to be almost burned in my mind by the intense sunlight and vivid colours of the place/time.
As someone who lives in Scotland, I am much more used to a landscape, climate and light that combine in a much softer and muted blended colour palette of pale blues, browns, greys and greens- vastly different from the harsh reds and blues, separated by distinct lines and dark shadows, of this sun-drenched landscape.
Furthermore, looking at these images, I am always reminded of the famous work by surrealist painter Salvador Dalí- through the landscape it depicts and use of colour and line- The Persistence of Memory; an appropriate title considering the impact these images have on me.
This is all aerial/drone footage of the landscape in Scotland. Gives you a nice “Bird’s eye view” as the author says.
Yer a bonnie place Scotland...
Reminiscing on a previous visit, at this time of year, to the area around Lake Mývatn in north-east Iceland. An unforgettable place where the heat and cold of nature collide in the fragile light of mid-winter in the Arctic Circle.
