My primary school bully's parents were Deleuzians and he bullied me for my arborescent thinking
the furtive text parser so easily forgotten
I genuinely think interactive fiction is an underappreciated art form.
Just to clarify. All this is interactive fiction:
IF is any storytelling wherein the storyteller has to change the narrative based on the choices of the person engaging with the story. I write both interactive and linear fiction, and while some stories are better linear, some are better interactive, and it's hard to make a story that is satisfying not just in one way, but in many.

what if you went in the house from house of leaves & there was a girl in there and she was like heyyy
i am a SUCKER for characters who start out as copies of other characters but eventually become their own people, their own identities, completely different from who they once reflected
having a multi year long character obsession becomes like a abstract thought experiment at some point

Remedios Varo (1908-1963) â El Otro Reloj (The Other Clock) [gouache on cardboard, 1957]
stupid fucking gimmick detected! this post is contaminated by stupid fucking gimmick blogs! let's all die!
some of the people on that post are dissociating at some degree from typical to unusual and some need to research seizure disorders
Sometimes my brain does what I call a split second mental ârefreshâ which leads to me abruptly getting disoriented and going âah! I just had a refresh.â It is unclear what to make of this because I made the term up
Itâs so normal probably maybe potentially
Iâm so fucking tired of people making these big pronouncements about fantasy genre conventions and tropes and they just reference Tolkien and Gygax and maybe Lovecraft, and just absolutely skipping entirely over Robert E Howard and Michael Moorcock! They have influenced sword and sorcery vastly more than HPL, and Gygax just lifted from them and itâs Vexing watching people lecturing about the subject while avoiding these absolutely foundational writers
Another big figure we should mention is John Norman. His world of Gor, where women are happy sex slaves to men (and homosexuality does not exist), has been a big influence on many, many fan creations in the early days of discourse (it's not uncommon to see a homebrew amulet of submission with effects clearly lifted from the setting). This attitude further went hand in hand with what became permissible to say about women in spaces. Bill Seligman of the "Gandalf was a level 5 wizard" fame, one of the early figures to dominate the tabletop roleplaying discourse, published, in Dragon Magazine (issue 5):
As far as game complexity is concerned, women do not get any sympathy from me. All my players are expected to handle my system or to learn eventually. I do not run an âaffirmative actionâ campaign. Everyone has to deal with their own feelings of game anxiety. I am sorry if women stereotype themselves into thinking that theyâll never learn the system (as a couple of my female players did) but I am not going to make my campaign simpler just for them.
To note, Bill Selig wrote this shortly before describing a dungeon trap in a kitchen that denigrates and demeans players by feminizing them and turning them submissive, surely a legacy of Norman's Gorian world as well. This attitude towards women, both in casually sexualizing them and also condescending to them about the high barrier of entry, has been influenced heavily by other huge names and we know this because Norman's books and the treatment of women as happy and sexually subservient in the setting of Gor gets discussed often enough in the early RPG discourse.
Another thing to mention is the prevalence of bad history being recommended in order to insert "realism" into settings, overwhelmingly influenced bt premodern Europe at the time in the scene (and even now). Frederich Heer's Charlemagne and His World, whose approach to medieval history was seeming outdated even in 1975 when it was published, has been a staple in the recommended historical reading lists in RPGs set in premodern Europe well into the 90s. Same is true for Jonathan Riley-Smithâs The Crusades: A Short History (1987).
However, this is where things do get tricky. A lot of this is downstream for Chainmail, a RPG system that's so married to DnD that the first edition repeatedly makes calls the players to refer to the system and what Gygax referenced as historical secondary sources. I do agree that there's more than Gygax and Tolkein and HPL, but Gygax does have an outsized footprint in forming the community both by indirectly giving misogynist men spaces to voice their opinion in places like Dragon Magazine and in the expectations of what historical sources should be referenced by erudite TTRPG makers at the time.

I expected my cpap machine to make a dramatic difference right away but after waking up from my first night on the machine I think the experience can be described as I woke up and thought âwell I donât think I feel dramatically different but it also definitely feels like something in there has been uncloggedâ
Itâs like uh like when you finally remember to clean the hair out of the shower drain after a while. But with my general vibe.
According to my app which no is not called cpapp unfortunately I only stopped breathing 1.7 times per hour. Which might sound weird but during my sleep apnea test I stopped breathing 23.5 times per hour so as you can imagine breathing is generally better than not breathing
Iâm not talking about my health just to overshare btw. I think thereâs probably other young people out there with sleep apnea who might need to hear someone in their 20s discussing this.
Donât feel ashamed to get tested if youâre tired all the time or someone has told you that you gasp for air in your sleep. Get your shower drain unclogged.
I'm 35 and I got tested for sleep apnea in the fall and I was having OVER 50 EVENTS PER HOUR.
Got my cpap and holy shit the difference. I am actually rested when I go to bed at a reasonable time. I no longer need daily 2-4 hour naps just to function.
And I also suspect that it might be helping me not get as many colds, because that nightly airflow clears things out.
I'm really glad I have my cpap now and everything is better, but also wish I had got tested earlier, because maybe if I'd caught this sooner I wouldn't have developed some of the other health issues I deal with. But I thought I was so tired all the time because I'm a parent and autistic.
So yeah, even if you think you know why you're always tired, get tested just in case.
a girl at the club last night was trying to show me a diy video for an accessory she made and i lost it because this was the most recent video she had in her watch history
