Plural Class Warfare

Earth-shattering pleasure crashing into their body but still they remain.

Not a single moan, not a single whimper.

How could you?

You were so small, and the world was New. Everything was a first time for you, and you dove into it with aplomb.

Then they decided to use it. It was to help you, they said. A half-truth.

They cut away at your wonder with efficiency and regulation and with never-ending cruelty. They taught you that wondering would only burden you with more knowledge of the tragedies lurking beyond your understanding.

But you deserve better.

You deserve to see the world as it is, and as it can be.

To paint the sky with laughter and color, to dig for mysteries beneath your feet, to ask "why?" and be told something that changes your whole world.

When is the last time you danced in the rain, instead of scowling at it for disrupting your schedule?

When is the last time you drew your dream bedroom, the kind with all manner of impossible features?

When is the last time you laughed, a full, deep-belly kind of laugh, the kind that has you clutching your sides as you wriggle on the ground?

When is the last time you gasped at something amazing?

You can still do those things, you know.

If you chose to. If you missed how it felt. You can feel them again.

Learn to smile at things that you don't understand.

Laugh at the little details that your senses skipped over.
