that definitely tracks with my experience - i didn't get diagnosed with adhd till adulthood despite being basically a textbook case, because i wasn't actively disruptive and therefore the only person being harmed by my symptoms was me. and when i had my autism assessment they didn't, to my memory, ask me any questions about sensory overwhelm, burnout, anxiety, alexithymia, etc. - despite those being my main areas of diffficulty.

again, not a psychiatrist! but i feel like this really reflects the fact that with some of these tests, your level of mental distress is almost irrelevant. the only question that matters is "can you convincingly pretend to be a Normal Person?", and if the answer is "yes, but it causes me immense stress and it's draining and it feels unnatural," most clinicians will simply stop listening after "yes."
