this stuff that these turn-of-the-century reformers said is all so insane. the notion that immigrants living in tenements should "invest in a parlor"... i cant believe anyone took these people seriously! and then you think about how like public health and social services and urban planning etc all originate with the people who said this kind of stuff.

I took some photography classes when I was attending college, which were taught by a woman from my church who had been kind of my 'mentor' for a long time beforehand, so i probably learned a lot from her. but i don't think that i know that much and am very much still learning. i have only had my own "real" camera since last year when my wife got me a really nice mirrorless one as a gift. before that i was taking pictures on my phone, and had been doing that for years. i think my only suggestion to get better is to just take a lot of pictures. i go for walks with my wife most days and usually on each walk i find at least one thing i want to take a picture of, and even if most of them never make it anywhere, it's good practice.

yes, shes's doing really well! she hasn't been on tumblr [or social media at all] because it is not very good for her mental health. when she is doing poorly she posts more and when she is doing better she posts less and this has been the case for as long as i can remember, and she's been doing really well and therefore just isn't posting at all.
