here's a small piece that I wrote when I was on my small high, not sure if I will finish though lol. Short attention span.
The cold arrived suddenly.
Diluc shivered as he rubbed his hands together, the leather doing little to shield his skin from the dropping temperature. There weren't any cars for miles, and they've already milked all the ones in their immediate area of all their worth.
He scoffed. When did he start referring to them as 'we'? (There he goes again, using 'them'). There is no 'we', only him and... him. Diluc's eyes narrowed as tufts of orange could be seen walking around the perimeter, reapplying the daily wolf urine he acquired during his route. A simple strategy, but it did its job well enough.
"Master Diluc, I see you found no luck then?" The gloves squeaked softly underneath his irritation. How can he still wear a smile in a situation like this?
"Unfortunately." Diluc's learned to swallow his pride the past few weeks; fighting would only bring trouble in both the short and long term.
Childe hummed, nodding slightly. The smell of the urine made Diluc's nose scrunch. Even more so when the ginger looked North-West of their location. "We could-"
An irritated huff. Childe set down the empty bucket, gesturing to the mountains. "It's our best bet for more supplies. I know you're freezing in those damned gloves." He points at the worn holes in the palms of Diluc's hands. He shoves them in his coat pockets, scowling because the stupid man is right, even if he doesn't want to admit it. Childe shakes his head at the lack of response.
With the shadows growing, the two start walking up the stairs of the Lookout. It's a slice of peace for them to wonder if hashing it out would be a good use of energy. Diluc looks over his shoulder out towards the region. A blanket of snow, sparkling with the last moments of daylight. Before the First Flare, Diluc would have made a quip of it being a winter wonderland. Now, it served to hide the life left behind.
("Only the strong can survive out here, Master Diluc." Childe had said with a smile, compacting the last of the snow he had shoveled onto the ground. Diluc had bit his tongue then, wanting to argue, but watching Childe pour Fire Water in front of the graves made him think better of it. The argument would have gone nowhere anyways, as evidence by Diluc having done the same when he had woken up to a snowy wasteland.
After all, only the strong had survived.)
