I cannot stress enough, in terms of "the intersex experience", I am 'lucky'.
As far as I'm aware, I was not mutilated as a baby, and when doctors started pushing for me to go on hormonal medication as a teenager to 'fix' me, my mother simply did not care enough to actually make me go on hormones.
To be clear, this has not spared me from intersexism.
Not even medical intersexism: I've still been treated like a freak who should be fixed by doctors, and I think most of the reason for my unnecessary and traumatic involuntary hospitalization for "suicidal ideation" was the doctors thinly veiled intersexism/transmisogyny, so I do have medical trauma of some sort.
Which is to say nothing about the social intersexism, and the impacts of being malgendered, misgendered, degendered, for my entire life, by my parents, by my peers, by doctors, which cannot be overstated, were extremely traumatic and put me in very real material danger several times.
Being intersex has caused me immense trauma on a number of fronts, and I am one of the "lucky" ones, that should tell people about how intersex people are systematically abused and brutalized in our society.
And yet intersexism is regularly treated like a "lesser" form of oppression, like something that can just be brushed aside because there are, apparently, not enough of us for it to matter, or, insultingly, when it comes to intersex people in trans spaces, we're seen as a cancerous tumor on the side of the trans community who only get hit with the 'collateral' damage from transphobia and otherwise just annoyingly talk over trans people.
It's actually ludicrous.
tumblr distilled into a tweet
I would actually go as far as to say that MOST abuse is unintentional. I think most people will go through their lives without ever experiencing intentional abuse. People are abusive because they're selfish, because they're stressed, because they care more about what society thinks they should do than the impacts of their actions on their children and partners, because they think what they're doing is correct, because they've made it make sense in their own heads, because they think they can fix their victims, they think they can fix their relationships, they think they can stop you from leaving, they think they can make you a better partner to them, they think that means you need to do what they want. We've sort of constructed mental illness in a way that doing this shit to other people counts as a form of mental illness because it is anti social behavior in the literal sense— it is behavior that causes social harm.
I don't say any of this to excuse it. I think everyone needs to be more aware of this because if you think abuse has to be intentional you will never realize you are capable of abusive behavior. You will never realize you are being shitty to the people you love, because YOU know what you mean, YOU know you don't mean any harm. But you're doing harm. You need to pay attention to the impact you have on other people, and you need to do it all the time, Especially when you feel least capable of doing so. Sorry! You live in a society. Get your head out of your ass.
I humbly offer this contribution.
Please read this because it is EXTREMELY important me (a transgender man) and to other trans individuals.
The US Government is currently trying to pass an incredibly dangerous national law for trans youth called HR 2616.
This bill would ban all Federally funded schools from teaching about gender identity or sexual orientation, prevent teachers from using the correct pronouns and names for trans students, remove books with any trans representation in them, and even go as far as to prevent teachers from acknowledging trans identity AT ALL.
Any school that does not follow this will lose all federal funding. This bill would also require teachers to forcibly out trans students to their families, which would be fatal to any trans student with a transphobic Family or just hateful family in general. Trans people are already a group that already has some of the highest rates of being victim to suicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
This bill actively makes teachers put those innocent children at such a big risk. This bill has rapidly passed the house this week with support from all 209 republicans, as well as 8 democrats. But, it's still being voted on in the senate, which means there is still time to help stop this.
To help stop this, you can visit 5calls.org (look up 2616 in the search bar), one of the most top issues filed Oppose Attacks on LGBTQ+ Students. Once you put in your general location, it will pull-up contact information for your senator, and give you a script for calling them.
If you are a minor and/or do not feel comfortable doing this, PLEASE repost this on here, or any other platform you are on/can find! This needs to be heard and fought against.
Thank you for reading this, my lovely people!

there's this specific grief that comes with being trans and hearing another trans person has died. because no matter how far away they were, it never feels distant, it feels communal. cellular. like someone reached into the wiring of your own body and cut a thread. trans people learn early on in their journey - often even before they begin transitioning - that survival is treated like a political statement. joy is political. transition is political. getting to exist long enough to become boring is political.
and now mourning is political, too.
i'm so sorry, murry foust. i keep thinking about how tired you must have been. how tired all of us are. how humiliating it is that even when we die alone, people still laugh and debate whether we deserved to live a happy, dignified life at all.
there are trans kids online right now learning your name – and the names of juniper blessing, lucas redbeard knapp, aleanna belcher, and davonta curtis – through grief. through fear. through that horrible, familiar ache of "that could've been me." and i hate that this is part of our inheritance from one another. not just chosen family and resilience and beauty – but memorials. vigils. apology letters to ghosts.
you deserved better. you deserved to grow old and live a happy, fulfilled life. all of us do. i promise we will keep fighting for our community to have a better future and we'll carry our lost siblings the whole way through.
if your partner doesn't want you to take hormones or get surgery, you should break up with them or divorce them. your body is yours alone.
It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

The lesbian "c4t" space on Tumblr is almost entirely produced for cis lesbians. It fetishizes transfemininity explicitly, all under the guise of representation and being progressive. A big part of this is that they are seemingly unable to understand that most transfems are not doms. They fail entirely to see transfems as people who actually yk, transition, and who may not have a 'girldick'. They never seem to know about estrogen's effect on nerve remappings, or on penetrative sex more generally either. To them, we are simply women with dicks.
It's functionally exactly the same as the more popular futanari sex category, the only difference is that they're being explicit about the actual target.
I'll be T4T forever, thanks.
if you're reading this and you're a cis woman who loves trans women, it is not a sign to love trans women less. It is a sign to love trans women more.
Learn things about how transfems work, and learn to see transfems as people, and you will have better, richer, more fulfilling relationships with transfems. Including but not limited to better sex.
I want to see more polyamory pride this pride month i'm serious. Stop being weird about people with multiple partners polyamory is awesome and beautiful and queer
TLDR: this white queer person tried to hold other white queer people accountable for their racism and they DID NOT LIKE THAT
FR!!! I also think it's important to mention that as a trans girl, I see a lot of other white trans girls appropriating asian culture because they associate it with femininity, which genuinely pmo as a wasian girl (i am more white than asian and am very white passing, so I can't fully provide input on this). This definitely ties into the larger point of the video, bcs I have not seen other people call out these issues and they are usually ignored, and when they are brought up people are just blatantly ignorant ("if i can't see it it doesn't exist"). even i don't feel like I've noticed the issue this person is talking about, but I am not in transmasc spaces so of course I wouldn't see it. I doubt this person has noticed transfem asian appropriation, but I have since I am in largely transfem spaces. but either way, this problem definitely exists in both spaces, and it definitely still needs to be addressed.
I saw a very useful video about this similar phenomenon even in cis white people. They said in the video white men emulate black men because they think it's more "masculine," and and white women emulate east asian women because they perceive them as "more feminine/cute/etc."
This ALSO ties into white trans men and nonbinary emulating east asian men because they perceive east asian maleness as a "more feminine" version of masculinity and therefore "more achievable/idealized."
i have my own gripes with this in regards to how other white trans men fetishize east asian men and how they might write erotic RPF or fanart, which in a vacuum might be whatever, but there's this undercurrent of "being east asian (or appearing east asian) is an automatic pass for me to fetishize you and make objectifying comments about you" which i personally have experienced firsthand and. aaauuuughghhhh i wish ppl would be more Aware of how their tastes in RPF or whatever (fantasies about celebrities who might never see it) affects how they interact with REAL PEOPLE they might actually talk to FACE-TO-FACE??? especially when it's rooted in racism like this
the perception of blackness as "more masculine" and east asians as "more feminine" is absolutely unacceptable and we should address it more.
i wish i could say “?????????” in real life it would be very useful

real nuance perverts when it depends
probably the worst attitude tumblr unintentionally cultivates is "the world out there is completely dangerous for you and no one can possibly understand you, so you should isolate yourself from it and avoid interacting with it as much as possible"
