So, some people have pointed out that Rashek was in fact, going a little crazy, as an explanation for him having the BIGGEST FUMBLE KNOWN TO THE COSMERE.
So. I will be going down the list of Rachelâs obscene abilities and why he absolutely shouldnât have been killed by anyone except a herald(even this is questionable with just power potential by the way), and that he is a total dumbass for losing to vin.
1.) Virtually infinite speed
I do not think anyone is processing how genuinely broken compounding speed is, but Rashek can actually do better than compounding speed. He can compound speed, AND BURN DURALUMIN. This man can move so fast, he would probably make most speedsters in fiction look like snails. You know all those posts about how the flash should never lose in any fight because speed is just so op? Yea. We have blown past that territory by like a mile. I genuinely think this guy can move fast enough that the force of his passing would cause significant environmental damage. I donât know how busted a duralumin boosted compounding would be, but the speed alone could easily level cities as long as doesnât kill himself.
2.) Obscenely powerful allomancy
The lord ruler was shown on several occasions to push metal in someoneâs body. I do not think this was duralumin, because I think using duralumin would instantly make him into a fetus because of his atium compounding. (This is one of his major flaws, and he could have been immortal easier. Every lack of duralumin use is part of the massive fumble) However, that means that his basic steel pushes were leagues above everyone else. We already saw this with his soothing, but this raises some interesting points. The lord ruler might be able to push and pull shardplate, or possibly shardblades. Maybe even the honor blades. He certainly could with duralumin. It pulls into question, how high his upper limit with duralumin actually is. His flared pewter was enough to slap the skin off of Kelsier face, killing him instantly. It might have been enough to burn him but I donât have the specific line pulled up to check how his corpse was described. Regardless, these are obscene raw power levels.
3.) Healing factor
Iâm not sure if I even need to delve that deep into this one. This makes Deadpool and wolverineâs healing factors look like jokes. We already saw how disgustingly busted this is with a normal compounder like Miles Hundred Lives. But the lord ruler can store far more, has access to more gold, and presumably burn it more potently than miles could. Also, normal gold can heal shardblade wounds. Which makes shardblades probably as useless as other weapons against a compounder. For a reminder, the only reason vin was able to rip the metal minds from the lord rulers skin was because she was tapping into the infinite power of a shard. And even then, if the lord ruler had been more smart about his metal minds, this wouldnât have worked. It could have easily thrown Rashek backwards instead.
4.) My guy was canonically a savant in every metal
This one isnât brought up enough. Being a savant lets you do things you absolutely shouldnât be able to do. Like wax with the steel bubble, or spook with tin. The lord ruler could do far far more techniques than everyone else, not just raw power.
5.) chromium.
This one is generally overlooked for mistborn in general, by the fanbase and the books. This is a disgusting power. Actually insane. To be able to wipe a radiant of their stormlight, or other potentially more drastic things, like wipe an awakener of all their breaths. Iâm not sure how far the investiture wipe extends. Itâs entirely possible it could wipe Feruchemical stores, or destroy bonds with spren. A lot of these are probably not possible for a *normal* chromium burner. But Rashek is again, far more powerful than them, and a savant for all metals. The fact that he never uses this makes me suspect he does not know of any of the enhancement metals existence, but that is another major flaw and absolutely his fault.
So. We have the fastest character in the entire cosmere, completely unkillable as long as he is trying, able to kill highly invested people in a single blow, 1000 years to grow proficient at all his insane powers, and able to make a vast swath of his opponents powerless with a touch.
I fully believe that someone competent with these powers would have a genuine chance over most of the heralds in a one on one fight, except for taln and ishar.
L Rashek, the cosmeres biggest fool, beat by a teenage girl.
I always forget how op Rashek actually is because of how useless he was against Vin
For the protocol, I think nicrosil and chromium weren't available to him.
Also, pretty sure he stored all his atium compounding right back into his bracelets, which sounds weird because of how many times he'd have to do that but not impossible.
The ridiculous part is that his immortality isn't innate, like that of an Awakener of the... fifth heightening, I think it was? Or an Elantrian. It's enforced via compounding. Which, yeah, is ridiculous. I'm not sure we've taken the time to consider that every so often Rashek has to sit, take some of the metalminds in which he stores the youth he's constantly getting from compounding and burn it to get more. Then bring some more atium to the system. He has to do all that while also tapping atium or he'd die of old age. In short, his metalminds probably had to always be inside his body, otherwise all this would be ridiculously tedious, and for nothing.
On that note, cutting Rashek's arms somehow seems the most likely tactic to kill him. Did no one attempt that in a full millennium? Like, consider how Vin isn't said to have pushed this many metalminds. It would take some time for his storage to run dry because he's ridiculously overpowered, but assuming he kept all the metalminds on some sort of appendage, it's a game of keep away with your opponent actively turning weaker and older by the moment. Then again, it wouldn't have worked on younger Rashek, who didn't yet need his endless life trick.
So likeâŚ. Whatâs stopping him from putting it in his chest along his ribs? Or in rings around his spine? He had enough healing potential to put them literally anywhere in his body. The fact they could get torn out at all was just⌠him being dumb about it. Also Brandon has confirmed that his method of immortality was needlessly convoluted and not the only way he could have done it. At the minimum, he could have taken a trip through ruinâs perpendicularity to acquire immortality at another planet, which would be comically easy to do for him. He might be able to do it in less than a week with speed compounding.
He doesnât really have an excuse for not having the other metals when he certainly knew of their existence when he ascended. Even if it was just for him, he could have managed it. Not doing so was just⌠lazy?
In all honesty, being a sliver of PRESERVATION of all shards, should have given him a multitude of options to become ageless that were easier to do. They would require some cosmere knowledge and maybe manipulation of connection, but thatâs something a Feruchemist can easily do. Certainly not with the finesse of a bondsmith, but 1000 years is plenty of time to figure it out. Hell, even if he had to manipulate identity, he could do that with Feruchemy too.
I think Rasheks problem is his refusal to change after the first few years. He refused to try and learn or change his methods (probably due to preservations influence) the fact he acted so similar to himself 1000 years ago that vin could connect the dots from a few phrases is evidence enough for this. But itâs still very pathetic.
