It is the kind of place where you will get addicted and makes you want to order everything from the menu. All curry will be brought with an iron plate which you can see them still boiling inside. Among many tempting choices on the menu, the chicken curry with spinach and eggs (800 Yen) is just exceptionally good. We have nothing but praises for this curry which was phenomenal. A small cooking class held at a very local apartment in the center of Shinjuku led by Mr. Sato, who we call him “Sensei”, is an expert of cooking Japanese local food. Mr. Sato is a great teacher indeed who is also super fluent in English, apparently because he used to live in the U.S for 4 years in the past. If our friends could describe him in 3 words, they would be “funny”, “knowledgeable”, and “reliable”. What makes this cooking class so great is that you can experience its pure localness in a local apartment in Shinjuku by having enjoyable chat with a local friend. Furthermore, what Mr. Sato teaches us to cook is just exceptional as if you could hardly believe that it was actually cooked by you at first! They are all phenomenal especially the ones on the menu using the branded chickens from the Miyazaki Prefecture that are so tender and juicy whether to be fried, boiled, or grilled, you can feel the perfect chewiness of the meat. Every bite seriously makes you go weak in the knees. The Nabe soup, on the other hand, is extremely tasty or complex we should say, that has so much thoughts into every ingredients mixed together in one splendid broth. Our recommendations here are Sashimi Sandan Mori (the 3 floors of super fresh raw fish in season), Kani Bukkake Dashimaki Tamago(Japanese Rolled Omelette covered with insanely full of crabs), and Ikura Don (rice bowl topped with fresh salmon roe), Sapporo Yakisoba (sea urchin taste fried noodles with vegetables and prawns), Nihon Ichi no Korokke(Japan's number one croquette with potatoes and pumpkins inside which has sold over 50,000 in one month). The 3 floors of sashimi was something that we have never seen before, lively seafood beautifully placed on the wooden structure. Put some wasabi in their specially delivered soy sauce from southern part of Japan and you will quickly realize the freshness of the fish in the first bite which also goes perfectly well with their carefully selected Japanese sake you may never find in your country. The rolled omelette also was pretty amazing to see, the staff of this restaurant generously calls out many times in Japanese to throw in the sliced crabs on the omelette until it gets fully covered by the crabs. Crabs were all over the place at the end which was quite funny and entertaining to watch. Then they slightly burns the crabs on top with the burner to make it savory. It was just outstanding and hats off we had to give them a round of applause.
