Perhaps Peyton

“I feel like I should be offended,” Amy said, pausing as she neared Peyton. She wasn’t really offended though; if anyone understood the need not to let people close, it was Amy. But she didn’t move on just yet either - she had some time to kill before work, and it looked like Peyton wasn’t doing anything specific either at the moment. “You were away, right? Did you have a good time?”

Amy wasn’t someone Peyton wanted to intentionally hurt, but she also wasn’t someone she wanted to get close with. Not when she cared for Ariadne so much and would have to watch her suffer. “Hey, yeah. St. Barts. It was gorgeous, and had some amazing napping spots. I was in a cabana one afternoon with a hammock partially in the water.” She smiled at the memory, truly loving that moment.

Madden’s eyes narrowed into suspicious slits when Peyton looked back down at her phone. She’d never taken very well to being ignored, especially by someone who was supposed to be her friend, or at least be on her side. With her own shopping bag in hand, she strutted over to the dark haired woman and slipped her hand over top of Peyton’s phone. “Excuse me? Were you even going to say hello?” Clicking her tongue, she examined the bags Peyton was holding. “What’d you get? You should’ve invited me, obviously shopping is more fun when you’re not alone.”

Peyton should have known that Madden had seen her. She was hoping to have gone unnoticed and sink into the woodwork, but luck wasn’t on her side this time. “I have a killer headache, sorry. I was avoiding the world.” She shrugged looking down at her bags and letting her lips relax into a slight smile. “Mostly shoes, but I got a cute top and some perfume too. What about you? Anything good?” Of course it probably would be something good, but she asked anyway.

“You know they have this thing called aspirin right?” She laughed shuffling her bag. “Yeah - free goodies from the shoot. Lots of perfume and makeup and purses and stuff.” She shrugged. 

“That’s what I plan on taking when I get home, if this uber ever shows up.” Peyt’s eyes wandered to the goodie back, making her crack a grin. “Ahh, model perks. It’s the free stuff that makes me wish I had gotten into modelling.” She laughed again, trying to imagine herself modelling in this life. 

“Well hello, Stranger.” Peyton’s aversion to social niceties never really deterred her, she had long ago come to accept their mutual affinity for isolation. “I see St. Bart’s was kind to you. Did I mention how unbelievably jealous I am?” Not that Caroline couldn’t afford to take her own luxury vacation, but rather it was her friend’s relaxed state which drew envy from the blonde. “My driver’s around the corner if you don’t want to wait, you know.”

Caroline was one of the few people Peyton felt like she could at least start to relax around. There were so few people that understood what Peyton was going through and the only way they could really understand it was because they were going through it in some capacity themselves. Trust was still foreign to her in this life, but if she had any for anyone it was probably for Caroline. “Hey, you. St. Barts was great actually. I wish I could have stayed for longer.” Her small smile grew. “Really? That would be amazing. You know how I am about waiting.”

Eleanor scoffed hands on her hips her goodie bag from her last shoot sticking out from her hip at her pose. “Wow - snubbed much.” She said rolling her eyes. “You’re supposed to make eye contact and wave high not pretend i’m someone you hide from - unless of course you’re an ex-boyfriend to which you are not.” She said haughtily. 

Peyton looked back up and curled her lips into a frown. “Sorry. Massive headache.” She pointed to her head, trying to excuse away ignoring Elle. “Long weekend. You just get off a shoot?”

Adrian: do you know of any places up north in cali that have waterfalls????

Peyton: Just about a million.

“Ain’t that the truth - who knows maybe i’ll be lucky and get trapped somewhere with some hottie to pass the time with. Like Chandler stuck in the bank in that episode of friends but of course i’ll be smoother than him.” 

“That would be great. I plan on spending it in my bed with some wine and pizza, but I wouldn’t complain if I got stuck somewhere with someone gorgeous.” What better way to distract yourself from a natural disaster than some cute company?

Adrian: Who knew?

Adrian: i'll bet that cat of yours loses its shit when the quake is about to hit

Peyton: She's already acting scared. I can't get her out of my bed.

Elle’s photoshoot had been cancelled due to impending disaster. She had rolled her eyes at how dramatic everyone was being. Eleanor scoffed out loud at the lady carrying a years supply of food and water in a cart she had clearly stolen from the store. “Okay - this is just funny. Don’t get me wrong it’s amusing seeing people running around all chaotic and such but really - aren’t we overreacting?” 

Peyton stood next to Elle and nodded in agreement. “I’m sure it won’t be as bad as everyone is making it out to be. People love drama though. Panic sells.” She raked her fingers through her dark waves. Over the many lifetimes that she could remember she had seen quite a few natural disasters. Hopefully this earthquake wouldn’t even make the list of memorable events.
